1974/75 - Terry Harper (# 2), Rogie Vachon (# 30) and Bill Flett (# 19)
And we all thought that Brent Burns was the original Sasquatch!
1974/75 - Terry Harper (# 2), Rogie Vachon (# 30) and Bill Flett (# 19)
1970/71 - Montreal goalies Phil Myre (# 30), Rogie Vachon (# 1) and Ken Dryden (# 29)
Quite the contrast between Rogie and Ken height wise, was Dryden the tallest goalie during his time? I seem to thimk there might have been another couple of taller goalies, John Davidson was pretty tall as well if I remember correctly.
Almost forgotten it seems like, had some great years in the early 80's.
Mike Liut had a solid career with a short but impactful peak. This guy stole headlines in the hockey world from Gretzky at a time when he was an other worldly phenomenon.
I have been closet sorting lately, found my old Hockey World mags, piled in mostly order, last year I had the issue with M Liut on top. He was a hot number there for a while, hardly mentioned at all it seems now. Tough time for goalies I guess in the early 80s if you're not B Smith or G Fuhr, there were a few more who deserve much more mention.
December 17, 1983 - Jacques Plante [1929-1986] - Last time playing in front of the Montreal crowd
The date is wrong on this.
He's wearing Steve Penney's gear in this picture, and it's his gear from his first full season (the year after his playoff coming out party) which puts this in the 1984-85 season.
Thanks for the correction FerrisRox. I think you are right. The photo seems to be from January 12, 1985.
