Sounds like Grier is planning on keeping the picks. My order of preference would be:
1. Trade them for young dman (BYRAM ANYONE?!?)
2. Use them to move up to 16-18 range
3. Keep them

But I mean we definitely can get some secondary pieces in the 25-35 range I just am kind of sick of secondary pieces.
Bryam and Power are unfortunately both lefties, sharks need a righty

It's going to be really interesting at the draft to see how high of a pick Grier could extract if he offers up the Dallas first and our own second--and if, at this point, that might be worth it considering the good depth in our system. Sort of a Dickinson 2.0 situation.

And it's funny, in terms of which prospects to pay attention to, how you never know; I was convinced last year that even if Grier traded up (like he did) that there was no way someone like Dickinson would fall out of the top 10, so who knows who might drop this year into the teens if we're able to get a pick in that range.
That’s not going to be enough to move into the top 12, so at that point you’re better off with more kicks at the can at say 26 and 34 than just getting one shot at whoever we select at Pick 17.

Great trade by Grier, who keeps on cooking. Appreciate Ceci and Granlund being great vets/mentors, and good luck in Dallas. I don't think the Sharks make a lot of other trades since those were their two big pieces. TDL is already a success.

Same. I’m not even sure Thrun is back next year even though he’s signed. It wouldn’t be a bad idea, we can all agree, to bring in more than just one year projects at this point.
He's under contract, so I expect him to be back cause he's not going to be part of a trade. However, I think next year is his last year with the Sharks.

You know what's a bit weird? Which side of the condition is the "default name" for conditional picks. Like, if Dallas calls this a "conditional fourth" are they admitting they are not likely to make the finals? Or is it always the lowest of the outcomes?

Well, I certainly know Sharks PR called it a conditional 3rd because it sounds better that way for their fans!

It sort of depends on things--particularly if Dallas exits in the first round, which is entirely possible if they can't catch Winnipeg for the division. (I'd pick Dallas right now in a matchup with Minnesota, but it could go either way, and Colorado would also be difficult if they pass Minnesota.)

I also think it could be a different trade than last year's at the draft; instead of doing it a day early, you could see it happening at the draft in this case based on one specific player Grier and his people like falling. Maybe that doesn't mean going into the top 12, but what if a guy they like is still there at 15?

good job by grier. The price was right. good seller market as granny was the best rental on the market. Hopefully he can get a few more picks for kunin, sturm, etc.

Now comes the roster building process.

Grier has done his job of acquiring and stockpiling future. hes gotten a bit lucky on getting a norris season from EK65 and a solid 70 pt pace season from granny who was a negative asset two years ago, and he struck while the iron was hot.

He'll get another top 3 asset and two late 1st assets with the dallas pick and the 33/34th pick. Cherny is back playing. Dick is crushing the O. Musty is doing well. Smith and celly got their rookie experience. Askarov is ready, etc...

So, now has to come the next step for grier, which is building a winning roster. The future-only phase should be over after the draft. Obviously, continuing to add future assets never ends, but its time for grier to prove that he can build a roster that can compete at a higher level. He's put together a dead last team now two years in a row. At some point, it's time to actually ice a competitive team...

This summer is a HUGE one...

I’ve argue that the combination of picks is enough to move us up into top 12, kind of like the Bysted trade back in 2022. Arizona traded picks number 27, 34, and 45 for our 11 pick at the time.
