Seems a little underwhelming with Ceci being thrown in and because the first is essentially a high 2nd(I understand they are both rentals)However that being said Grier makes his money during the draft that’s when he transforms from Garbage Tier Grier to Big Money Mike. Also seeing what he did by turning the Vegas pick into Asky maybe he uses this draft pick to get a stud RH dman.

It’ll be interesting to see how this impacts Mack’s production also wonder if he secures another first taking on another bad contract

Don't do that.

I have been mostly focused on Eklund, Celebrini, and Smith all year, but we just lost our top RD and our top scorer. I wasn't watching for them, but with them we were competitive in let's call it half our games. Losing them, we won't be as competitive. Doesn't mean I was watching for them. Come on, man, don't be a D.
Or, be a D. Sharks could use one...

Anybody want Kunin, Walman, Toffoli, Rutta and Farraro? They are available for trade. We'll also throw in young Guschin, Robins and Bordeleau to sweeten up the pot.

The trade is good business, and I get that Ceci wasn’t the best, but losing one of our warm bodies on D in addition to our 1C is gonna make it even rougher on our tendies. I was all for keeping Asakarov up even when Vanacek is back, but I think it might be best for his confidence and development to shelter him from what’s to come.

I know I'm not supposed to but I'm really rooting for Dallas this year. I don't care about the draft spot. It's gonna be between like 24-32 anyways, but outside of Benn I like their team, and I don't even hate Benn because he hates the Knights and they hate him. So the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

Toffoli isn’t going anywhere.

While re-signing Granlund would have been the best option, I assume he wasn't interested. This is a great return.
Not the best option by a long shot. Lol. Wtf are you talking about.

Love the return. Would love it even more if we flipped this first for a young dman
Honestly, the draft is kinda meh after the first ten or so picks. I can see a mid team with another first already wanting this one for an opportunity to move up.

Yeah I’d love to either move this first and our second to move up or for a young top 4 dman
I don't think we would do it. I would say a team already in the teens looking to move into the top ten or around there. I doubt 25 and our 2nd gets us that, and we don't have our third (but Edmonton's and Dallas's which would be late).

Granlund was starting to look pretty good, but great deal
We can't have players looking good here unless they're rookies

Looking forward to Goodrow moving up to center Smith and Zetts.

Sounds like Grier is planning on keeping the picks. My order of preference would be:
1. Trade them for young dman (BYRAM ANYONE?!?)
2. Use them to move up to 16-18 range
3. Keep them

But I mean we definitely can get some secondary pieces in the 25-35 range I just am kind of sick of secondary pieces.

As long as Grier doesn't trade those picks away for more forward help. Right now the D for next year is Ferraro (1 year), Walman (1 year), Vlasic (1 year), Liljigren (1 year) and Thrun (1 year). None of them signed for beyond 2025.

I’d even be okay with trading for some forward help. I’d love to get Byram and Cozens back for those picks+ but don’t think it fits BUF needs at all

Either or I think we both agree those picks would be best used for more immediate help, but it certainly sounds like Mike intends on keeping the picks.

The sharks only have 3 games between now and Feb 22nd so it really made the most sense to pull the trigger now.
