Don't do that.

I have been mostly focused on Eklund, Celebrini, and Smith all year, but we just lost our top RD and our top scorer. I wasn't watching for them, but with them we were competitive in let's call it half our games. Losing them, we won't be as competitive. Doesn't mean I was watching for them. Come on, man, don't be a D.
It was a joke lol. I lost my “like” privileges.

In all fairness, if you were watching because of Granlund and Ceci then you were completely missing the point of paying any attention this season.
Granlund and Ceci helped create an environment where we had the puck in the offensive zone at least some of the time. That's going to become an even rarer occurrence now which means fewer opportunities for Celebrini and Smith to work their magic.

Just like the Blackwood trade, Mike has good instincts on value for these kinds of deals
Devils would have given us a first for Blackwood the moment Markstrom went down lol.

Sure, until the end of the game, lol
Hence the “had”. Be prepared to never have leads now.

Still, had to happen. I’m not mad about it at all.

I really wouldn’t worry about them getting their chances. They’ll just happen in games that are less competitive.

I also don’t think Mike is done tinkering with the lineup.

This is objectively a good deal, but I'm sad to see Granlund go. When we got him in the Karlsson deal, I was very negative about it, as he was pretty bad in his previous two stops (Pittsburgh and Nashville) and I'd never been a fan of him. But I don't think I've ever done a total 180 on a Shark the way I've done with Granlund. He was a great soldier this past year and a half. He clearly improved Eklund, Zetterlund, Celebrini, and Smith, which is every single meaningful young forward we had.

I'm really happy he (and Ceci) ended up on a team I can root for, even though I know them losing helps our draft position.

I will say that the timing is smart. I was really worried about Granlund getting hurt or losing value at the Four Nations.

Awesome return by Grier, love the trade! It obviously sucks to see Granlund go as he has been so great for us and was supposed to be a cap dump and now turns into another first round pick from the Karlsson trade!

This is a trade we do 100% of the time, I never honestly got the feeling Granlund truly wanted to stay. The biggest downside for me was how well Smith was developing playing with Granny but I am quite confident Smith will be able to continue and it wasn't just because he was playing with Granny.

I am very curious what the Sharks plan is now if they move Smith back to C or promote Wennberg (injured currently) to the 2C. Our D is so rough all over but especially RD....Liljegren first pair, Thrun (offside)/Rutta (injured) second pair, Thompson third pair I guess and probably see Mukh or Graf called up soon.

As others have stated this gives us ammo to make a deal for a young D out there now, I wonder if Grier's plan is to use this pick or if it will flipped very soon in a future deal similar to what Vancouver did last night.

Granlund was the only UFA I wanted to re-sign, but he probably wanted to move on to a contender given his age. Dude was great for us on the ice in the bleakest years, and teaching the kids for the future. Glad we were able to get a non-conditional 1st for him. Hope he and Ceci get great reactions from the crowd when Dallas is in town next week.

I watch a lot of Dallas games so I get to see them about the same as if they were on the Sharks. It sucks to lose Granlund but getting 2 more draft picks out of the deal is nice. I'm glad the season is almost over (in a matter of speaking).

They should… at least from the 23 people in attendance lol.

Think that package could get Nemec?
Probably but I'd rather have Byram. Way more of a sure thing despite the concussion history.

I think the league (or at least Jim Nill) must believe Elias Pettersson and Brock Nelson aren't getting traded before the deadline. Hard to explain Granlund returning a 1st otherwise.

I think EP40 is an untouchable contract. Watching him yesterday in his first game post-Miller and he looked absolutely invisible.

I gotta imagine there’s little chance the team trades Ferraro before the offseason.

Good deal overall, I would like MG to use that 1st round pick to get a legit RD or defencemen and maybe a cap dump forward to sweeten the pot. We'll see!

Granlund is not the type of player you win with. Celebrini will be fine, and if Smith ISN'T a bust, he'll be fine.

I mean I think that’s the ideal use of this 1st round pick right? I think it would be big boost to the team if they can get a solid Young right d that can be involved in the team sooner than a mid / late 1st will take to develop.
