I like Granlund and am glad to have him, but it is more of the same. If we win it's going to be because we out-soft and out-finesse everyone.

The top priority remains finding ways to keep Matt Dumba and whoever from the AHL off the ice.
looks like they're gonna test drive everyone in the org before the deadline

Taking numbers from playing on San Jose is dumb, who cares what those charts say the team is ass.
Ya I agree. Wasn’t Lybush’s advance numbers awful in Anaheim too? And look at how successful he’s been in a defensive system.

Not defending Ceci, but he’s an upgrade if he plays as a 5th-7th dman and gives us strong depth.

Even if we wanted to add grit that should be extremely cheap. It’s not like it’s a sellers market for bottom 6 forwards with size there will be plenty available at the deadline.
That's kinda my problem with the lineup when it comes to the playoffs. Adding a big body to the fourth line doesn't address the concern of the top three lines being mostly undersized, not very physical, and mostly below average speed wise.

And I'm not one of these Bobby Clarke size queens. I'm not taking about needing a bunch of new big bodies. I'm more unimpressed with what will be Nill's one addition to the lineup not addressing their main weakness each playoff run, which was a forward who could fight through playoff cheating to go make things happen. Granlund feels almost redundant -- an upgrade for sure over the guy pushed out of the lineup but also very similar to what they already have.

Ideally id love for our dcore to be:

Esa-Miro
Harley- addition/Lybush
Bichsel-Lybush/addition
Ceci

Stars at this moment have 4.9 mill available so hopefully Nill can pull something off.

As for Grandlund. Hopefully he works out similar to Zucc. Im a little concerned with his defensive play and the fact he’s another smaller player with not much playoff success.

Granlund does figure to help the powerplay. The issue is whether our coaching staff will be smart enough to use him or if they'll keep running out their preferred turnover-machine guys.

Ceci is certainly an upgrade as the 3rd pairing RD regardless of the injury situation.

I've never really paid much attention to Granlund, not expecting much from him, but hopefully he surprises me. Also, Ceci was actually pretty solid against us in the playoffs. I have no problem with him on the 3rd pair when we're healthy.

With so many teams in the wild card race, it's hard to say who's all out there. I'm glad Nill did something now, rather then waiting until last minute and getting nothing.

Not saying these two were the guys I wanted, but they aren't the worst pick ups.

The only downside to Granlund is he's not big, not physical, and he's slow

On the bright side he's a great playmaker

Robertson-Hintz-Johnston
Marchment-Granlund-Duchene
Benn-Bourque-Stankoven
Steel-Back-Dadonov

Harley-Lyub
Lindell-Ceci
Bushel-Dumba

is how I'd stopgap things until the playoffs. Marchment has to be close right? What exactly happened to his face

I like this trade.

Granlund near PPG forward, has decent speed. There isn't alot of UFAs at forward who have produced like him this year. Needed one so glad they got him.

Been watching him this year since I thought he might be on our radar. Who knows maybe he will get some time with Hintz at 4 nations..some early chemistry.

Ceci doesn't wow me, but clearly an add on for a 3rd pairing depth defenseman with size. I thought he was decent in the playoffs for the Oilers.

I'm excited for our forward core. Would like to see 1 more D man added/upgraded.

Really hoping this indicates Miro will be healthy for playoffs, if so this team can go deep.

Agreed we are still slow and soft. Lack of foot speed really hurt us last playoffs when no one could skate through obstruction

Didn’t realize Grandlund was seen as a slow player. For some reason I always thought he had good foot speed lol.

He sure as hell is faster than most of our players

My wish list remains the same.

Size/toughness even if it’s just a cheap bottom six guy.

Moving Dumba

A top four dman

Jesus. The sites left are either so busy and such a mess (Puckpedia) or cheap imitations of CapFriendly that fall short (Capwages). No hate to either of them because it seems like they're trying, but I will hate the Capitals until the end of time for taking away CapFriendly.

To be fair CapFriendly was properly shit for a long time after it tried to build on the ashes of CapGeek. And imo never lived up to what was CG. It’ll take time, but one of these pages will be good by next season.
