And then somehow we get kaprizov for larkin and have kaprizov running n gunnin with buchelnikov
I doubt he waives for Minnesota and that grows considerably if Minnesota doesn't have Kaprizov.

The line I am hoping for you somewhat have just without the trade.

Buchelnikov - Kasper - MBN

I think those two turn pucks over and create the space for Buchelnikov to be the ideal playmaker and scorer that he is. Now they all need to hit, pretty confident on Buchelnikov and Kasper. But that line would be a lot to deal with.

In that scenario you are envisioning Cat - Larkin - Raymond prob? If so, then I would strongly disagree, cuz one of our weaknesses in the top6 is physicality in general and forecheck specifically. Just like you correctly said: Kasper and MBN create space and are excellent for F1. Having them together would be overload and leave the top line bereft of that element. Cat-Larkin-MBN and Buchelnikov-Kasper-Raymond should be the way to go.

This sounds good, but I would still split the playmakers too (Raymond and Buch), when splitting Kasper and MBN.

Cat - Kasper - Raymond
Buch - Larkin - MBN (Patrick Kane should be instead of Buch, until Buch is ready)

Probably won’t happen until Cat’s last year in his current deal. I think putting together a heavy skill line that draws the tougher checking in the top six is fine. Also all three of Cat, Raymond, and Larkin are pick winners and good forecheckers. I like that as a transition pace line. I also believe in giving different looks to imbalance defenders. Yes you will play the same systems, but that subtle change was one of the reasons I loved the Filppula-Zetterberg-Hudler line when it was together.

Giving Kasper another big body with skill I think allows him to play his menacing/pest style a little more.

First goal was tipped, not much of a chance there for Cossa. Second goal was on the defence, the Texas goalscorer got free from coverage on the rush

I'm not liking what I'm seeing from Buium and Tuomisto.

The mechanics of their skating looks...heavy. I worry how much more they can gain in terms of that first step quickness and agility. If Buium was an NHL average skater he could be a #4 defender right now.

I forgot how sloppy the AHL is. A lot of these guys could have found employment on the 2000 Nashville predators or Minnesota Wild as clutch and grab plugs. This Griffins team plays their system and not truly to their talent level. I think they could score more than they do.

Danielson will be a dude in the NHL. If Detroit can get a legit winger for him he's going to be a 60+ point center that gets selke votes.

getting blitzed 4-0 midway through the 2nd. Haven't seen the 4th goal yet, but first 3 weren't on Cossa. Team is just playing like ass.

Edit- Campbell in for Cossa

Finnie looks like a future NHLer. Skating, size, decent handing. It's tough to say what his scoring potential will be until we see him in a full season in the AHL, but I am confident he can be a 15-15-30 guy in the NHL that kills lots of penalties at minimum.

This team is not doing any favors for Cossa right now. I can't blame him for the 2 goals I saw in the second. The team's defensemen have been mostly garbage and the forwards aren't helping at all.

Wallinder is trade throw in fodder. I was firm on the wagon to pick him in 2020 because his skating is damn near Niedermeyer-esque. The rest of his game is Kindl-Esque. My backup pick was Peterka and I have been wishing we made that choice instead for the past 2 years.

Anton Johansson is another guy that could be a dude. Willing to take a hit to make a play, pretty good skating, and mixing it up between and after plays. Probably not more than a 5/6 guy but we could have used one of those in Detroit this year.

Cossa out lol

He’s had a pretty patchy season. I expected big things this season but I’d even go as far as saying he regressed.

I wouldn't say that. I'll agree he hasn't taken a huge step up, but his save percentage was pretty much the same and I would argue that the team D is significantly worse than last year.

Could be worse..could be Wallstedt!

Losing AlJo and Edvinsson while Tuomisto and Wallinder stepping up as top 4D can do that. This Griffin's team is not as good as last year's team but they're as competitive as they are because goaltending.
