Good to hear some more news. Was getting very frustrated. He started practicing like 3 weeks ago at this point and still can’t get in a game??

I feel like I say it every few months, but Based on Buium’s size and numbers, he needs to be getting a lot more attention as a prospect

I agree .. Just this amateur scouts opinion, but I think he's surpassed Wallinder. Just looks more composed and confident out there.

Buium has always been ahead of Wallinder, people are just now realizing it

I caught most of this game, there were small parts I missed including the final 5 mins. Griffins didn't shit the bed this time. Good game and win


Danielson: A-
• Lots of chance generation, whether that be him shooting or setting up linemates. I want more of the speed and shooting, yes more. I want more balls to the wall. I can feel him game by gaming piecing things together offensively. Hoping for a big 2nd half from him, especially when Mazur and Lombardi come back


Cossa: A
• Wish he had the first save, might've been screened by Tuomisto going across the net. Good game in net once again, he doesn't get rattled easily which is huge for a young goalie


Soderblom: B+
• ENG but he's got 9 points in his last 10. Playing with swagger shift to shift. Sometimes I forget how strong a dude with his size can be when we watch Ras play lol


Wallinder: C-
• Bad giveaway trying to clear the zone that led to the first goal against. He's just not good at moving the puck. He's better off just skating with it and going for a rush. However, that's not going to fly in the NHL, especially when he's gets eaten alive along the boards in the AHL as he does already


Buium: A-
• More joining the rush and he's clearly getting it at this level. Seeing development in all areas of his game and that's a big thanks to his excellent poise. He's getting targeted for some big hits from forecheckers and have shook him up. Think that's the 3rd time in as many games. Hoping he can adjust a bit to evade those potential injury moments


Becher: B-
• Good quiet play again today. Not too much to note except stick handling through a player pretty swiftly on his break out

Why do you never talk about tuomisto in your reviews? The wings org by all accounts actually like him as a player.

I personally don't find him to be a noteworthy NHL prospect at this point. He's a good AHL defenseman that may get a cup of coffee here or elsewhere

To me, his game doesn't jump out at all but the biggest factor is that he's not a brilliant skater. If he could skate like Edvinsson, I'd be more intrigued

I only saw him a little bit , but Tuomisto did improve his skating, it was horrible at first, so maybe can get even better

Savage was 2021 but I think he’s got what it takes to carve out a career as a 4th liner at least at Motte’s level.
Niederbach, Hanas, Mastrosimone, Tuomisto, Wallinder, Viro and Grewe are major disappointments to me when you look at the number of players picked in the 2nd and 3rd rounds that became players.

For this team to truly be successful building from the draft they need to hit on 3 or more players per draft. Soderblom might be salvaged from the 2019 draft if he can put it together more consistently. The 2021 class looks to have at least 3, and 2023 looks that way as well. But 2020 might only have Raymond, and 2022 might only have Kasper and maybe Buchelnikov if he ever comes over.

Gotta say, love the video watching "obsession" Buium speaks of having for himself. Solid enough as it is, if he's gonna be crazy about improving his skating, that's huge for his NHL potential

I forgot about Lombardi. I think he can make it eventually, but I’m not sure if it’ll be as a 13th forward or a top 9 guy. I am not as bullish on Buch as others. I hope I’m wrong though. Maybe AnJo? He’s still got a ton to work on.

It doesn’t matter if your 1st or 4th round pick is the guy that becomes a star. It matters more that you get them.

Yeah two per Draft is the target. If one of them is playing up to their first-round Draft slot, that's enough to make inroads on the teams you need to beat.

The AHL needs to balance their divisions next season. To do so, Grand Rapids would move to the North, and Calgary and Colorado would move to the Central.

Tuo is likely never making the NHL. Still never been called up, which means he isn't held in that high of regard as some are suggesting. To me he is no longer a prospect really at all.

I dunno if I would go that far. Same draft, Johansson didn't get a call up until this year and now he's in the top 4 and looking like he belongs. He might not be a high end guy but he has less pro experience than Johansson and might just take a little more time

I wonder how long Holl's leash is with Petry still out. Going with 3 rookies on the blueline probably isn't ideal but if Holl has another rough game or two...

Skating is not his strength, but it is also disingenuous to suggest that every 6'5" defensemen in the NHL does, or needs to skate like Ed does. Tuo's skating issues are largely about explosiveness and power at this point. From a technical perspective his skating his more than fine. At his age it is fair to question whether he has the room to acquire any more explosiveness but he doesn't need to be elite to be considered an NHL prospect.
