I know Tampa doesn't have a lot of futures, but I can't see either of these two as rentals having the value to pull a Geekie or Howard type prospect. Even packaged together its a stretch

Tampa could get cup #3 in 6 years.

That would make for 3 cups, 5 SCFs, and 2 other ECF runs (2016 and 2018) for the Kucherov/Hedman/Vas era Bolts if you add in MSL/Lecav teams they get 1 more Cup + 1 ECF as well

They win this and its over for Pens, Hawks and any other dynastic teams to claim they had best dynasty/success post 80s Oilers

I imagine some cap would need to go the other way.
I'm gonna guess we paid through the nose for retention.

And unless theres retention, that contract isn't very attractive
It's pretty attractive for next year. This is the type of contract JBB targets. I'm gonna guess there's a lot of retention here. And I'll bet we paid a hefty price for it.

Howard++

I had TB as a darkhorse to win the Cup this season - they are loading up now.

The Atlantic is absolutely brutal.
It's a damn shame that once again thanks to Bettman's brilliant playoff format we'll be robbed of having the best two teams face-off in a conference final. Feels like this has happened damn near every year since the format change

I feel like if Tampa is trading a prospect like one of those two, they could do a lot better than f***ing Bjorkstrand with retention.

I am good with this. If we could snag Tanev some how with those fabled pesky taxes from a team who also has no taxes, that would be fantastic.

to be fair this is potentially what we could have gotten in the old format anyway since Washington has a massive points gap. The injustice would be if the current standings hold form since Tampa/Florida is a possible frigin first round matchup.

You clearly have an agenda to diminish the return here -he’s a very valuable player for his cap hit. That being said there’s a non zero chance retention on both happens… you clearly
don’t know the player if you’re making comments like this. Unless the first round equivalent plus is coming back they’re not trading Bjorkstrand who is one of their best players with a year more on the contract. Then add whatever gourde is worth.

Since they don’t have a first this year, this is probably one of their top prospects plus future pics or more than one prospect
