He's had a very poor time at this tournament, getting player names wrong and giving wrong info. I used to think he was good but he's been absolutely awful. Is this the norm for him now? Sound like he doesn't care.

I've actually heard more mistakes from his commentating partner, Ray Ferraro.

In the Czech Republic vs Russia game, he identified Svechnikov as "Alexei Svechnikov." In the same game, he later went on to call Zadina "Pavel Zadina."

Today, in the Finland vs USA game, Ferraro identified Henri Jokiharju as "Henri Jokijarhu" and then later as "Jarijarhu."

Ray also, on two occasions today, stated that Eeli Tolvanen played in the Finnish Elite League; he also called him "Eli," as in "Eli Manning."

From what I've heard of Gord at this tournament, he has been trying to pronounce names properly -- in the games featuring the Czech Republic, he has been fairly accurate with the Czech names.

It definitely beats hearing Dennis Beyak and Craig Button refer to Martin Necas as "Neck-ash" a million times.

He cares, believe me. He loves doing the World Juniors.

Hate his over the top gurgly voice when Canada does the smallest thing on the ice and he sells it like the guy just cured cancer.

I lost respect and interest in him when he started calling guys, face punchers.

NA announcers need more phonetic Euro player names. Please cooperate.

Jk. Gord is the best. Tough job.

I've actually done announcing for hockey. It's a surprisingly challenging job. Gord does mess up some names as well as the odd minor thing here or there, but he is a true guru when it comes to this tournament. Not many people on Earth could be considered an upgrade.

Ferraro also called Finnish coach Ahokas as Ahonen many times in the first game against Canada. I think it's a very easy mistake to make even as a Finn because Ahonen is much more common surename. It's really easy to make small mistakes when you have to call things out fast. It happens and would happen to everyone and I don't think it detracts from their casting.

Finnish broadcasting company is broadcasting the games live, but I actually prefer to watch the Canadian stream because I like their casters, especially Ferraro.

Mispronouncing unfamiliar names is understandable.

Not realizing Slovakia scored their second goal against the US despite all visual and audio cues, then doubling down on it not being a goal, that was tough.
