Goodrow's defensive skills - advanced stats

I'd say this year is an outlier since he's always been a proficient defensive forward. I don't think he had a particularly good regular season but he was being played on the 1st and 2nd line a lot which isn't ideal for him.

I just want to better understand pros and cons of the player who's participating in the on-going series. The timing is just fine.

Watching guys like Goodrow and Motte in the playoffs are the guys you want in the playoffs where the war in the trenches can swing a game. For example, I believe it was game 5 (maybe 4?) where Miller made a soft pass up the boards to Kreider who didn't engage physically in the puck battle. The Carolina player came out of the corner and drove the net and the back door was open for a goal given up. You don't see guys like Goodrow and Motte lose those puck battles where they "eat" the puck along the boards.
