The Leafs couldn't get a 1 x $1.5M deal done with this guy?

Could play up and down the lineup, and did very well when healthy last year, and can be buried if it goes south.

Cap is precious

We offered him the same deal. I think he wanted a better opportunity. We were going to use him on the 4th line which won't get him a ton of minutes. Carolina uses all 4 lines more often so he likely won't see a cut in playtime there.

Not without like a 400k penalty.

We offered him that deal. He took Carolina's.

Kase name will always conjure the word passion to me. A skilled player who loved to score/win. Loved the game.
He played every game like it was his last game, and every game had the potential to be his last game.
I wish him the best, but I hope he retires healthy and able to enjoy his old age.

He didn't die, he just signed for another team.

The guy has had 8 concussions. It's like saying that the sky is blue is a hot take.
not disagreeing with the concussions part but rather acknowledging that concussions are an issue with this player now that he has signed with another team.

Moreover, If multiple concussions are such a concern, nobody seems to be bothered with Matt Murray’s concussion history, especially considering that pucks will be shot around his head, likely because he’s on the team now hence the homerism.

the homerism is deafening. that take would not happen if he had re-signed
We had said that same thing over and over and over again. It's risk to sign him and his great player when his healthy. I think everyone loves him here, but at the same time everyone is worried, that might go out.

I was pretty sure that last concussion really was last one before retirement. I hope for the best and hope he succeeds. Great player and sad to see him go, at the same time you can't count on him playing 82 games a season.
