uhhh why would it be going to Kulak off the ice?Wait. It's almost unanimous that people think he was trying to go to Hyman with that?
You don't make a 125 foot pass in the NHL that slow. He was making a breakout pass to the wide open Kulak in the middle of the ice that would have led to an odd man rush with lots of space. The fact that Hronek read the play as going to Kulak caught him flat footed on a pass that would have otherwise easily been intercepted.
If Draisaitl is ignoring wide open players to make 125 foot passes at 10 mph, I'd be questioning his ability. Luckily he is Leon Draisaitl so I don't have to do that.
Who knows exactly what he was thinking, it's likely he was just dumping it over to the 2 Oiler players near the blue-line as they were wide open, but just as likely he was trying to get it up to Hyman. He looked, probably saw the 2 Oilers nearing the blue line and Hyman in the neutral zone and knew he had to get it past the two defenders on him and then no one really had a chance at the puck other than those 3 Oilers, so he'd make that play 100% of the time regardless of who he was actually trying to hit with it.Wait. Great pass and great finish.Hyman taking it to the net hard and clowning the defenseman was the play or it’s a nothing burger and Drai is my favourite player.
He's simply not.....he won't win the Selke. I'm sure he'll get votes, but there is basically 0% chance he'd win it. If you check every winner (at least from 97/98 when they started tracking time on ice), 100% of them had a PK role. On average it's well over 2 min/game and the only time anyone has ever won it with under 1 min was Datsyuk in 2010, but he still played 0:45/game, it was his 3 year in a row (to bit of a rep thing) and he led the league in takeaways by a wide margin, 132 vs. number 2 at 83.He is going to
