#CBJ D Cody Goloubef: "I’ve grown with these guys and in this organization. This is where I wanted to be and the feeling was mutual."

"(Unrestricted free agency) wasn’t something I really wanted to do. I know where I want to be. I like what we’ve got going here and it’s going to be a winning team. I want to be a part of it."

Solid player who will only get better IMO. Did he really have a +12 rating in 36 games? I think he will grow offensively as well with more experience. Just look at this gem of a pass to spring cam.

I love this signing, id really like to see him be our torey krug. let him play sheltered mins and get a chance to run the PP

Not a Torey Krug type of player. Doesn't have the shot nor the offensive zone awareness. He's a Dan Hamhuis-lite kind of guy: solid defensively and good in transition, but nothing special in the offensive zone. Certainly the kind of guy every team needs, but won't put up the numbers to make him terribly desirable. The kind of defenseman that is appreciated by the team he plays for who doesn't get any fanfare elsewhere.

I agree on the awareness part, and that's why he won't be a big scorer, but I love how Golo can use his speed to jump into the rush and dart around the o-zone. I can see him getting 25-30 pts with good icetime.

Cody is CBJ's earliest 2nd round pick (2008) to actually make and impact! Yes, Boone did it first, but Cody was drafted before Boone.

With this signing does this mean the Jackets will carry 8 D this year and only 13 F's. My guess is yes because it will be easier to bring F's up and down. Golo will be subject to waivers and I'm pretty sure the rest of the guys are also.

I thought he had a pretty good season. Glad he's coming back. Better than Prout. Has potential to move up from a 5/6 as time goes on. 9 ES assists with his ice time was pretty decent.

i like this even more thinking about having Falk and Madaisky as the first callups...means that we don't need Madaisky to jump in and can work him in slowly to hopefully have a spot the following year...

Is the first thought that came to my mind after reading these quotes. I myself thought Goloubef will test UFA market, but very glad i'm wrong. One-way, congrats Golo. Really, Anti-R€illy.

Do we think there's no chance Heatherington could end up as a call-up?

Personally my favorite D prospect we have and its not even close. He could be a call up but he would be best served getting AHL time and learning the pace and whatnot. I guess being on a pretty bad Swift Current team in a way was good because he played huge minutes and every game him DeBrusk and Bow looked like the only quality players on that team. I lived in Swift for a bit and I was pretty happy i got to see him live lots

Edit: Ive been saying he could beconme our veversion of Willie Mitchell but i dont know why ive never made the Hjalmarsson connection. He plays that type of game, good skater, blocks shots no matter at what point in the game, great stick, great reads and not overaly physical but is smart about it and does when he feels he has to

Great deal for both sides. Low $ for the team and a one-way deal for the player. If he doesn't work out and the cap is an issue, his entire contract can be buried in the AHL.

I thought the kid played very well toward the end of the season.

Why do people start talking offensive potential every time we sign a D man?

I thought Golo was quietly effective last season, which in my book is a good thing. But, I am looking for Golo to be a solid defensive contributor. If he adds some offense down the road, fine, but I am more concerned right now with shutting down the other teams scorers. If he turns into another Jan Hejda, I will be happy as a fly on ........you get the picture.
