See I didn’t hate the blais deal at all. I’m of the realistic belief that if a first round pick was actually avail for buchnevich Drury would have taken it.
But I think at the time we wanted to get tougher and get experience and Sammy had alot of upside. The knee injury almost makes the move impossible to judge fairly. I don’t think anyone expected blais to score like buchnevich. The Rangers needed to open up a spot and cap space for their first and 2nd overall picks. One of them SHOULD be replicating that production by now. (They aren’t ) but that made the trade make sense to me. Couldn’t give buchnevich a real contract at that point
