Choosing between arguably the biggest non-playoff game in NFL history and the gold medal game will be a tough one... but I have a lot of stock in Trey Augustine. Maybe I'll just check the Lions score every few minutes 😉

I said we would destroy Sweden and send them back home crying to their mothers and we did. US can talk all they want about their fancy dangles and how good skating strides their players have but this is not some kind of "show" this is god ol' ice hockey and it will be a war zone out there when the puck drops. Are the US ready to go out to battle?

Should be a good game, but ultimately I'd expect USA to be too much for the Finns. They've looked like world beaters since the OT loss to Finland.

Look at their last 3 games:
4-1 vs Canada
7-2 vs Switzerland
4-1 vs Czechia

All dominant performances vs strong teams in meaningful games, outscoring the opponent 15-4. They've really tightened up their defensive game compared to the start of the tournament, keeping the opponent to the perimeter for the most part.

Last night vs Czechia they played a very smart neutral zone game, knowing how dangerous the Czechs were on the counter attack. If they continue that approach I think it'll be tough for Finland to create a ton of offense.

I predict 5-2 with an empty netter.

From mn, the answer is two screens and then you just swap the volume back and forth as needed. I will probably have the football game on the big TV but be watching the hockey game on the laptop.

Well if the US wins. I mean, it hasn't been easy listening to Canadian fans all these years. You reap what you sow.
Oh don't get me wrong, we can be annoying as hell when we win (and lose). But some US fans like to lower the bar as to what makes them a superior hockey nation.

Whenever Canada goes back to back in this tournament (or hell, goes 5 straight years with gold), they act like it's an irrelevant tournament for teenagers anyway. And boy, oh boy, they sure like to bring up our Stanly Cup drought and political relevance alot.

The US has still yet to repeat gold in this tournament and now all of a sudden it's "America's Game."

It hasn't been a party for us listening to you guys either these last 10 or so years, You've got plenty of posters with tons of mouth too I'm sure you are aware, or should be.

You will reap what you sow too when the time comes and it always comes sooner or later.

This medal is already what Finnish hockey desperately neeeded, gold would make it even better.

Of course idk if we should have one terrible tournament to change things around in Finnish hockey because this may be our last chance in a while to win gold here.

My prediction is this game ends up a much tighter, low event game than most people expect. Something like 2-1 either way. I think both teams are going to play quite conservative trying to avoid the big mistake and that makes it a close game all the way down to the wire.

Well then no one should pointing out how the US fans are going to be, if they win. Since it's established that there are fans on both sides have been problematic. Did you not read the first post? I'm not the one that started this convo.

Well, the USA is the clear favourite, obviously the stronger team on paper. On the other hand we rarely play like our paper strength would indicate. But yeah, who knows, maybe it really will end up 10-1 for the USA. We will shortly see :)
