White Sox Plan To Cut Payroll In 2025

The White Sox are reportedly planning to reduce their payroll in 2025.

I mean team is going to be terrible so why should they spend $ this offseason?

They had a 150M+ payroll to start this season so its not surprising that they will go with low payroll as they suck and try to rebuild

No team spends big $ during rebuilding

They will likely look in bargain/clearance market in FA

More vets like Pham/DeJong who they would then likely flip in season for some longshot prospect and hope they can find a reclamation project like Fedde who they can then flip as well

Though as seen with horrid returns on Cease/Fedde/etc trades, Getz is terrible GM

I’d agree at 41-121. But 40-122 is objectively worse than 40-120, and also sets a new losses mark.

Sox drop game 1 vs Padres after a nice comeback (Sosa 2 run HR in top of 9th to tie it) but lose in 10

Now 36-118 pulling ever closer to the Mets 120 losses

120 Ls is absolutely insane. I thought the early 2010s Astros were terrible but this is a whole new level of suckage and I watched those teams lose 426 games over a 4 year period. Granted that was an intentional scorched earth rebuild and tank that was given the greenlight by ownership.

Hopefully you all follow our path and be a a contender in a few years.

Now is where the real fun begins. Six games to go. One more loss breaks the record for most losses. Two more losses guarantees them a worse record than the ‘62 Mets. Three more losses guarantees they won’t hit 40 wins. Four more losses gives them the lowest winning percentage in 125 years.

As a kid I always wondered what it was like for people to witness that Mets team.
