Well it is true. Anything can happen. Commesso could turn into Hasek all of the sudden...

I'm just saying, with an already fragile group that is in last place, the last thing they need is to get sha-lacked in the 2 games that Commesso starts. He's not doing so hot in the AHL. The Hawks give up a ton of quality scoring chances. The only reason we are in most games is Mrazek. Commesso is going to look lost. He's going to let in a ton of goals. You are going to create another problem with him starting.

He's going to let in a lot of goals. Sørensen is going to have to pull him. If he doesn't pull Commesso he let's in 8 goals and the teams frustration and morality spirals further. If he does pull him, Soda comes in and gets no rest in the tough block of games that the teams has and his performance starts to suffer.

But it's only 2 games in a lost season anyway, right? After it happens it will give us something to complain about. That KD didn't trade a 6th rounder for a 3rd string NHL goalie to keep Commesso out of the fire.
The stats for the Ice Hogs are basically useless. Commesso is playing in front of probably the youngest defense and one of the youngest teams in the AHL. The games I have seen he has been very good despite the scores. Just look up Wallstedts stats and he is supposedly the best goalie prospect in the world.....

I'm a little surprised KK got the call up before Nazar given it's arguable we need more help with forwards than we do defenseman.

But am excited to see what he can do tonight with the big club.
KK got called up because they need a defensman with Martinez injured.

No, they don't. They planned for Soda to be in the AHL this year.

They are currently down their starter and back up. With their 3rd and 4th string set to play a lot of games in the next 10 days.

If this teams moral wasn't at rock bottom now it will be after Commesso finishes his 2 games.

Yes, they do. They also planned for Soda to be dogshit and he's been anything but. He's been a more than capable backup this season and adding anothe guy that you're going to have to put in the AHL at some point isn't necessary.

Umm what I thought might happen is Mitchell Werks gets an NHL contract, actually…FOUR NHL contracted goalies ain’t a lot

FYI Commesso makes $1.2 mill, Soderblom makes $0.9 mill

Pretty sure at the beginning of the year they were talking about how Arvid kind of went back to basics with his technique that he got away from over the last year+. He's playing more of a percentages game now, playing more within himself and not chasing pucks. He certainly looks more technically and positionally sound than a year ago. But to DHF's point, the guy was definitely shell-shocked last year. It was a big year for him, he's trying to establish himself in the league and the team just kept letting him down and he could never build any confidence or ride any momentum. When you give up 3-4 goals a game, you let in a softie and it's tough to recover mentally.

By my own admission I'm no goalie scout but he seems to be playing less deep in his net and not "swimming" as much. I still think he gives up a lot of rebounds, just less than the trampoline he was last year.

He was awful last year but he was this guy before last year.
He had potential, but he seems much more calm in the net than I have seen him in the NHL, and because of that his rebound control and positioning is much improved. Those were his biggest weaknesses since they have brought him up, he played small for a big goalie.

He played stupid. He'd lose his net. He wasn't the prospect I hyped up.
