Not too many offers where I could see Dallas trading Heiskanen. It would have to be a massive over payment. Laine and a pick is not close. The guy is a 19 year old all star defenseman.
Yup I get that. And Laine is a 20 yr old with over 100 goals in the NHL. Not like I was offring up peanuts. The thread is about goal scorers to Dallas. Gotta give to get.

Trading Laine while he is like this definitely isn't ideal. His value has really taken a hit with his effort being in question and him not bringing anything else to the table other than goals (which is good, but I'm not convinced he'd be able to match his production on a much weaker Stars squad outside of the PP)

No one ever said Laine was peanuts. Would love to have him it’s just he is not worth trading heiskanen for. Sure it may solve the goal scoring issues but then we would need a Dman. Yes you have to give to get but there are other ways to give to get what we need.

Are you familiar with Roman Polak? He's the guy you're looking for.
Remember we have Jim Nill. I am sure Polak is untouchable along with picks in rounds 1-7 and all prospects. Jim Nill is like Peter Griffin with the mystery box. All prospects are mystery boxes for him.

Whom also has been playing the most minutes among all Dallas d-men of late, from what I gather.

Definitely not peanuts, but Jimmy Jr. hit on his first blue-chip prospect (on which he lucked out, or else we'd have drafted some llurch. Prying Heiskanen out of Dallas while Jimmy Jr. is still running things would be like taking the ring from Gollum.

That said, the logical choice for Dallas is to keep him. In the event that there is a rebuild under a new GM (if they ever realize it), Heiskanen, at his young age, would easily become the centerpiece of it.

I'd even take Hoffman at this point. Stone and Duchene would be ideal but with all the buyers out there I just don't see it being realistic with his track record of not wanting to give up anything of any sort of value. I'd be interested in seeing Bura getting an opportunity in our top 6, think he could really bounce back but out of all the other second tier options I really think Hoffman would be the best bang for the buck, he had that debacle in Ottawa but haven't heard anything bad about him in FL.

How about Dzingel for ...

Hanzal
Methot
1st
2nd
3rd

One pick in each of the next 3 years. Dallas picks the years.

This assumes Hanzal is done for good or at least a good portion of the 2019-2020 season and that both Stars players’ contracts are insured. Ottawa gets additional assets here for taking back Hanzal’s contract for next year and Methot’s for this year.

Dallas clears out some LTIR contracts; for teams loading up this matters.

Methot can come home for his rehab, and Ottawa may consider signing him on a reduced (ideally one year) deal. He was a fan favourite and very popular off ice.

No point to pay someone to take their contracts. Clearing space and putting them on LTIR isn't an issue (Methot is already there).

how bad has Oleks been? Comeau?

Oleksiak has been good for the most part (just does his job but nothing bad comes from it) but last night was easily his worst game and as a result he only played 8 minutes. I like him and trust him a lot more than other guys that could be in that spot and have no issue with him as a bottom pairing dman. Comeau is good defensively, but man he's an embarrassment everywhere else on the ice he's so bad

Methot is done and a free agent this summer so trading him is pointless. Hanzal on the other hand would be nice to get rid of as he was a terrible signing and has 1 more year. But probably not for that price. Nill won’t trade a 1st for a rental. He has to be able to over draft and get that second round talent in the first round.

I've had the thought of Kessel for Radulov.

Both RW's signed to 2021, Kessel (6.8M, 31 y/o) the superior goal scorer, Radulov (6.3M, 32 y/o) gives us the power forward GMJR has claimed to be seeking for the past five months. Both players have had their moments on the bench and both have familiarities with players on the opposing side of the deal - Radulov obviously buddies with Geno.

I'd like to see us get a top 4 D more than anything - but with our play over the past few months I also wouldn't mind a shakeup of that caliber either. Though, we're basically in a holding pattern until Schultz returns.

As much as I like the fire Radulov brings, I've long wanted to see Kessel in Victory Green. Hes got the speed to play with Hintz and Gurionav and could add some needed big game experience.

why has Oleksiak only played in 7 games? i was just thinking of a Neal + vs Comeau and Oleksiak or another dman?
