GDT: [GM73] Vancouver Canucks @ New York Islanders | Wed, Mar. 26th | 4:30pm PST | SNP | Bowie William Horvat

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

At the game. A couple of observations:

Lekk is not really battling on the boards. It’s for show. He has no confidence in his strength. Needs a good off season.

Boeser is so slow. Oh my god like molasses in the dead of a winter night. But very intelligent with his stick work.
Intermission break. Beer time ?

Is it just me or is this team really bad with 3 on 2's? I guess speed is an issue (they get caught), but they almost never do anything with those chances.

Crazy to think if Benning just picked the obvious guy in 2016 they would have had a run of studs

2013 - Horvat (elite 2C)
2014 - Demko (franchise goalie)
2015 - Boeser (top line forward)
2016 - Tkachuk (franchise winger)
2017 - Pettersson (franchise center)
2018 - Hughes (generational dman)

They could have also had Nylander and McCann to add to that group.

Would be a * depending on how Tkachuck would have impacted the team and the overall standings.

Van was 2nd worst with 69 points and 26 wins in the tie breaker. Then AZ and NJ tied at 70 points but NJ was 4th with more Wins. Then it was Buf at 78 points. NJ did win that lottery, so be swapping Petey for Makar if all reports were true as to who Benning was eyeing that draft if Van got between 1-4 more wins. More than that there were some misses in that range.

2018, Van tied with Det at 73 points but more wins. Chi was at 76 points with 1 more win, then NYR at 77 with same win total, then Edm at 78 same win total. Move past any of those and unlikely Hughes is there. Best option is likely then Dobson (or at least the version of Dobson under Trotz).

I'd do that trade 11/10 times.

This is the conundrum with Boeser.

Especially going forward as he ages and ability to keep up with the elite teams.

I understand space gets limited in the playoffs but you also got to get there first.
