GDT: [GM73] Vancouver Canucks @ Columbus Blue Jackets | Fri, Mar. 28th | 4:00pm PST | SNP | All The Talent in the World

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Columbus having a nightmare run to the playoffs. 2-7-1 in their last 10. Fallen 2 points behind MTL for the 2nd WC.

Van should win.

Canucks must win. No choice at this stage, we pretty much need to run the table, and the schedule only gets tougher from here. Columbus is in the race in the East, so expect them to be hungry and desperate as well.

Just win, boys.

Pretty much every game from here on out is a must win. I think that Tocchet and Foote need to trust another defender or two other than just Hronek and Hughes for half the game though. Going to kill them to try and make the playoffs.

And we put ourselves in the position of, if we win and MIN/STL/CGY/SOAKERS win, we lose.

The rest of the regulation schedule looks like, to quote the ever-so-wise Ron Swanson, a blood-soaked nightmarish hellscape.

After their tragic start they did surprise most with a valiant effort but injuries to their star players have done them in.
This will be a good game to scout Cole Sillinger.
Him and many others, but for once the season is over.

They still have youth and an immortality attitude. They could rebound.
Just perfect for the Canucks reputation, a team that other teams break out of slumps playing.

Who knows they might have wanted to scout EP40 and Hoglander but then there is tons of video out there, maybe some other Canuck player.

Ground work for trades can be arranged now for after the season

Fortressbort

Fortbort for short

I mean, forshort
I tend to think Forbort won’t be in Vancouver next year unless he is paid well. The young kids coming up might be tempting to play. Other teams will pay him. I would not be surprised to see him get $2.5x2yr from somewhere. He’s always been an elite PK going on years now. It was only 2 years ago Boston won almost every game and Forbort played 18 minutes a night and was their number one PK guy. He’s getting a raise.

It’s the reality when you are bargain hunting in free agency. Deals are going to be 1-2 most off the time. Suter, Bleuger, Sherwood, Forbort, Lankine , etc. if they perform well they will look to get paid like Joshua did.

EP isn't getting moved, his haters need to turn the page.
There is nothing harder than obtaining a 100 point selke level centre. One poor season where he was clearly not 100% would be the stupidest reason to move him never mind the fact that Quinn likely says adios because a long rebuild would surely follow.

Let's face it......the Canucks dodged a huge bullet on Long Island. If Demko doesn't stand on his head in the first 10-15 minutes, that game would have turned out far differently.

They're facing another desperate team tomorrow night, in a a loud and proud building. It'll be another game where the Canucks will have to weather early pressure. They've had to come from behind in every game so far on this trip.....but it's not a viable recipe for success.

But the one positive of this marathon six-game roadie, has been the travel. It started in St. Louis, and then on the New York area for three. Fortunately zero travel between games, just a bus back and forth to the hotel.

And Columbus isn't much more than a two hour flight from New York City. So I imagine the Canucks flew out the same night as their big win over the Islanders, and got into their hotel not much past 1 a.m. or so.

At this point in the season, travel is a big issue. And the final stop on the trip--Winnipeg--is only two and half hours in the air from Columbus. So hopefully they've got more gas in the tank than they usually have when they've faced the Jets in the past at this point in the season. But still feels like a guaranteed loss.

Pettersson has actually had 3 bad seasons now

Agree with everything else
