WE don't have to. But THEY are professional athletes, looked up to by kids. Have some respect for the game and the tradition of the handshake line. If they want to say something about it later, they can get a blog.

I'm pretty sure what he said was private, and that it is the media (and people like you) making a big deal of it.

I don't think any kids caught the subtle aggressiveness of Lucic's handshake, or read his lips.

The media and people like you are the ones sensationalizing it.

The kids will be fine.

If people think this is bad I wonder what guys Like Rocket Richard and Milt Schmidt used to say.............come on folks. We cannot want them to hate the opponent and smash them then he all happy at the end. Too emotional a sport for that.

The players are human. Wouldn't you be pissed if you were any three of those guys? They are going to see the crap spewed about them, and as much as you'd like to think that they are professionals and it doesn't matter, it does.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy the "they're only human" line. Everyone's "only human" but when you take on certain roles, you have to accept the responsibilities that come with those roles. Sometimes that means you bask in the glory; sometimes it means you have to take crap.

Teachers are only human, but they can't go blowing their temper at kids whenever they feel frustrated. Cops are human, but sometimes you get people angry at you.

If pro athletes can't handle the fact that some fans will sound off on them when they underachieve, then, guess what: stop being a pro athlete. Because that comes with the territory. You accept it as their right, as the people who pay their generous salaries, and you try better next time. When you win next time, they'll love you again.

That's the way it works. Mature pros understand that.

OK now I pretty much see what happened. Montreal whining to the media about something on the ice, shocker. Weise and Emelin will get theirs no doubt. But until next season you just gotta take it, they won.

So disappointing..Bruins had what seemed like an easy path to Cup finals after Montreal and had to be considered favorites to win the Cup if we advanced...Stupid NHL with their playoff format change, instead of getting the lowest seed Rangers second round like any other year we get a much better Montreal team. We got no breaks for being the best team in the league this playoffs

I have never once seen one of my fellow Bruins fans go onto another team's board and troll or gloat after a playoff series.

Why is it that every time we lose, we get bombarded by Habs, Canuck, Leaf, etc. trolls?

Well only the NHL does this. You want to reward the top team in a conference at the end of the regular season? Let them pick them team in each round (of those that make the playoffs and advance) that they want to play each round. Won't happen as that takes guts but why did we play Montreal when the Rangers had less points. Not saying we would beat NYR, but the league is a different beast in the playoffs and how it is setup.

And one more thing: Montreal, you complain about Lucic. Just be a gracious winner as THAT is what you would want the Bruins to be if they would have won

Private? He's standing centre ice in front of an arena of people and with cameras and media all around them. He's grown up in the sport (presumably); he should know you don't pull crap like that in the handshake line.

I guess by "people like me" you mean people who have some respect for the game and its traditions?

I'm not "sensationalizing" anything. I'm commenting on it in a discussion forum, expressing my opinion.

You're right, I wish we had players with zero emotion.

this team overachieved during the regular season and its true talent showed in this series. a very very slow team that is not strong mentally. habs were in their head all series, causing the best team in the regular season to change their gameplan...the best team should not have to do that. subban, price and just being the canadiens were deep in the head of the bruins. and rask was awful. same with chara. same with krejci. same with...

Maybe it's just me, but I hope somebody punches Gallagher's face right off his head game 1 next year, and Lucic beats the absolute **** out of both Weiss and Emelin...

And for the record, I'm tired of Marchand... His antics used to be a positive, but those days are gone... We don't need him to win anymore...

Just keep reporting posts of trolls. They will be dealt with.

Will do, we really appreciate it. These series make your jobs a lot less fun and easy I would imagine.

Montreal did earn their win. They will be TROUNCED, either next series or in the cup.

I know its not on the refs, but I found these stats.

2nd Round Teams:

Penalty Kill Time:

MTL: 14:51(11 games)
LAK: 24:56(13 games)
MIN: 28:50(13 games)
NYR: 34:04(14 games)
CHI: 34:07(12 games)
PIT: 37:05(13 games)
Anaheim: 48:05(12 games)
Boston: 53:19(12 games)

Crazier:

MTL: 14:56
SJS: 18:45
COL:20:31
CBJ: 22:00
STL: 22:45
DAL:23:04
PHI:23:09

These teams didn't even play in the 2nd round and still had to kill more penalty time!! That's ridiculous to me.

It's literally impossible to "overachieve." You just achieve.

Disgusting.

Reinforcing my statements earlier that I don't know if I can emotionally involve myself in this sport until this is resolved.

Here are some more fun facts of the playoffs:

Dallas, who got eliminated in 6 games had 20 seconds less powerplay time than Boston.

NYR, who have 2 more games played, has almost 2x as much powerplay time (95:09 compared to 51:24).

Of all teams left, Montreal has been shorthanded 16 fewer times than the next closest NYR, and has less total penalties than Dallas who only played 6 games.

PP minus PK Time - Boston ranks last at -19:52, next closest is Anaheim at -10:00.

Detriot, who only played 2 home games has more home powerplay time then boston by 3 minutes. (Dallas by nearly double)

Want to make it clear I'm not blaming the refs that we lost, but reffing this year has been a ****ing joke.

Why would it be any different in the post season we had the fewest pp time in the regular season, that's right 30th in the league... it's amazing we can score any pp goals since we don't get to practice it much...

You realize they swept TAMPA BAY. Without Ben Bishop, right? Tampa never had the puck how do you want them to call anything?
