GDT: [GM66] Canucks vs Hawks | Saturday Mar 15th, 7:00pm | CBC | Survivors of the Great HF Boards Outage of 2025 Unite!

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Under normal circumstances, Silovs should start this - but given the opportunity to gain some ground in the playoff race, it probably should / will be Lankinen. Which also says something about the Canucks’ confidence in Silovs.
Team’s often prefer to start their starter in the first game, because if you win, you can then start your backup in the next game knowing you’ve at worst secured two of four points, and if you lose, you can start your starter again on the second game.

While true, Utah should be the tougher opponent. Chicago is languishing near the bottom of the standings and would be the more logical “backup” start - but I don’t think the Canucks can afford to take any game for granted and have to start with their best foot forward to try and build separation in the playoff race.

I don't know what RT will do but I'd be tempted to start Lankinen and secure what points I can that are immediately in front of me. Getting cute can burn you and it's awfully tight.

Which Silovs we getting tonight?
More like which team does Silovs get in front of him tonight? The zombies that sleepwalked in front of him during that 6-0 debacle or the guys that showed up two starts ago for him where he went .930 ish? He has had nothing but trash starts lately so this game is a HUGE opportunity for him. Wish him luck, I for one still believe he can be a good NHL goalie, if not here then somewhere...

Are we going to have a fully healthy defense for once?

Well it looks like we're icing our best / most complete version of our defense but half of them are banged up so it's not exactly all systems go.

But this is probably about as good as it's gonna get and they ought to perform quite well.

Canucks will need to be air-tight defensively in front of Silovs. And they'd better not get behind early. Silovs' last start in Abby was pretty shaky.
