I think both Boeser and DeBrusk are top-six quality wingers. But they are complimentary players dependent on strong centers, something the Canucks don't have at the moment.

DeBrusk-Boeser is fine against top opponents, and the Pettersson line isn't bad with Garland. Plus your bottom six is absolutely loaded with limited-offensive checkers, so mine as well use them appropriately. The fact a year-on we still have third-liners in our top six is just gross.
Looks like the 'future' of the Canucks blueline is largely fixed. Hronek, Hughes, D-Petey, Wilander and possibly even Mancini either in their early 20's or still with a lot of years of productivity remaining.
Now they have to fix the forward group--particularly at center. But generally, forwards are easier to draft and develop than d-men. And the Canucks in 2025 have picks in every round. But they need to draft somebody who can make an impact---and quickly.

All I can say is those percentages things are sooooo dumb. Like it all depends who wins the remaining games. Flip flopping percentages daily with 20 games left is pointless. They don't mean sh!t. NFL ones are even dumber. I love how they go from 27% to 73% from one week to the next around the 14 game mark.
We're basically in a four team race for the final wildcard spot with a tiny chance at the first wildcard and a small chance at third in the division. The teams are all pretty equal in terms of overall strength with the Blues having a couple less games and a major injury to Parayko. So call it a realistic chance of 25-33% we make it.

Nice to be home again. Mexico was good, but didnt get to watch a game, or the boring TDL. Was hoping for a haul for some of our players. Oh, and the wife finally found out today that she has a significant stress fracture in her foot, and her big toe has advanced arthritis. The joys of turning 70.
My tablet kept showing me as signed in, but every time I went to a thread, bloody thing showed me not signed in. So I would sign in, and try to go to a thread, and get kicked out. Ad nauseam.
So forgive me for not providing my usual sparkling conversation for the last 5 days of my vacation. So it goes.

The more time I think about it, honestly, I think we have enough cap space to get an elite winger and a number two centre.
Or a number one centre and a top six forward , or 2.

Between the Canucks, Flames, Utah and St Louis. The Blues have the easiest schedule (32nd) then Utah, Calgary and Vancouver with the hardest (12th). Not looking good for the good guys.

The schedule is underrated, they play a bunch of teams down the stretch who have literally been stealing their lunch money all year. I figure market will clue in when they say "What ... we have to play Vegas again?!"
In my opinion, the upcoming games against Calgary, Utah and St. Louis basically decide the playoffs. They could easily be effectively out of it in the next 10 days.

Would be a terrible decision to keep him. We've already got Sherwood, Joshua, DOC, Garland at times, Raty, Karlsson, Aman, and whomever else as bottom 6 wingers. He's definitely not better than the first 4 and there is no way a cash strapped team starved of goals should be paying a guy $3 mil to twirl around on the forth line when he hasn't a clue how to play defence, and there is no way in heck he belongs anywhere near the top 6.
He's an absolute must trade imo. Good prospect for a crap team without serious ambitions next year.

Probably better that we lose TBH.
If we win, there's a good chance we rush Hughes back from injury and risk his health even further.
Plus we might as well try to get as good of a draft pick as possible - as we won't win more than a single game in the playoffs unless we have Hughes 100% healthy anyway.
