I don’t think he’s as good as gone.that’s overreacting.

I would be disappointed if played in that tournament at the expense of his health..Or he plays the tournament,and re aggravates the injury, and can’t play down the stretch.
 
Unfortunately, I won't be able to watch the game on TV tonight 😏

If he doesn't play tonight he shouldn't have a say in it. He should be told you rest up for 2 weeks. If he has a hissy fit about it, time to figure out what he brings in a trade. Sorry, but if you can't play for your team, you shouldn't be playing for your country. Particularly not for the US when its turning into a crap show.

  • Any time you play the Maple Leafs on Saturday night, it’s big
  • Maple Leafs have some special players
  • Grinding out a win against San Jose was good for the Canucks
  • This is a game where you need everyone playing well; can’t have any passengers
Hughes
  • Not playing
  • Don’t have an update on his status
  • Would possibly play next week if the Canucks were playing; can’t answer the question
  • Skated pretty hard today
Line-Up
  • No changes from last game
  • Demko starting
Demko
  • Has seen him trend in the right direction over the last month
  • Has missed a lot of hockey and his body is starting to feel good
Last Game Against the Maple Leafs
  • Knows the Maple Leafs didn’t like the last game against the Canucks
  • Is a whole different game now
Matthews & Marner
  • Canucks are used to playing McDavid and Draisaitl
  • Nylander seems to get a breakaway a game

  • The conversation about Hughes not playing has to ramp up now
  • Hours before the decision needs to be made
Responding to Hughes’ Absence
  • The trade has helped them
  • “The young Pettersson has given us some juice”
  • Marcus Pettersson is giving them leadership and a calmness on the point
  • Myers has been playing well in the last month

  • Pettersson said “man, I need to move my feet”; Tocchet is happy that he doesn’t need to say anything
  • Already knows what he needs to do
  • If you want to be a guy that goes against the best that means moving your feet and applying yourself; Pettersson is trying to do that
  • Learn from the best players, when Auston Matthews gets the puck he is not straight legged, his hips are down and he’s already anticipating getting the puck, the puck is off his stick in seconds
