Post-Game Talk: [GM55] Canucks defeat Maple Leafs | 2-1 | Hronek & Boeser | Dead Leafs on the Dirty Ground

The thing is that Forbert is a key penalty killer and this is a team that has gone from a terrible/at times historically bad pk to the 12th best pk in the league this year. Hard to take Forbert out of the lineup on that basis.

Of the 130 NHL defenders who have played 50+ minutes on the PK this year, his SHGA/60 of 3.57 is 5th in the NHL. He's really, really good on the PK.

oh and about 8 games ago I said ... we really need to go 8 - 1 -1. in the next ten. Well after tonight we are 6. - 1 - 1. we sill be fighting for 3rd and solidly in a wild card spot if we win our next 2. Which are Vegas and Utah ... with the Kings and duckies ... to follow. we can do this ... f*** it lets do this.
My job here is to keep receipts , for the good and the bad. Makes my job easier when it’s a good reference , nice call Billy!

Maybe we should just put Quinn as a center and keep the same defensive lineup. Then we don't have to trade for a new center either.

(I'm joking but lets pretend I'm not - how good do you think Hughes would do in that role?)
I was actually thinking of that. A non-faceoff taking centre.

Great game, and great entertainment for a 2-1 game. Solid effort throughout the lineup.

Lank coming in was huge, hopefully nothing serious for Demko, both of them healthy and rolling behind that defense could pose a problem for teams in the playoffs.

Best game from EP40 for some time, he seems to enjoy playing with Sherwood. Sherwood was battling hard all night, a real pain in the ass to play against.

Chytil's line was strong, Boeser looked quicker tonight, they have to re-sign DOC. Chytil could have had a couple more points.

Garland was the best part of the 3rd line, you can see Joshua's game coming back, I thought they were going to combine for a goal tonight.

Hoglander was good again in his minutes, I like Karlsson more on the 4th line, but Aman did fine.

The D were great, Hronek was outstanding, Forbort once again looked strong on that pairing. Myers had a couple CG moments, but his pairing with MP29 led the team in ice-time and did great in a shutdown role. The top 4 is going to be formidable when Hughes returns, and it's a shame EP25 is coming out of the lineup, but his play in these high stakes games against the Leafs and Avs has been a revelation. Soucy still looks better on his off side.

5-1-1 in their past 7, and 2-0-1 without Hughes, and back in a playoff spot going into the break. Not bad, all things considered.

@Lenny Levino

I mean, if anyone in the league would be able to pull it off, he's gotta be up there ?

but of course, i would be worried about injuries and lol i doubt he would want to play center

I'm laughing at all this talk about how we play much better when the main difference maker in the last 5-6 games has been goaltending. While defence has improved, if we did not get excellent goaltending, we win 2-3 games out of the last 8 and not 6.

good to send TO fans home unhappy and we seem to have penchant for doing that

Their fans are pretty much resigned to them losing here.

TO has 3 wins in its last 21 games in Vancouver.

From TO fans: "this was a scheduled loss when hughes become unavailable, then it became a guaranteed loss when demko left

This was the most predictable loss of the year

Jim Hughson will have a delightful break"

I find it comical that some Leafs fans seem to hold it against Hughson for being a Canucks fan. Like whatever man, he's still one of the best play by play commentators of the last 20~ years, he ended up calling all y'alls games, and you're mad that he's a fan of another team?

Still? :thumbu:

Even after all these years since his retirement?
