Chytil's type of effectiveness reminds me a bit of Garland when he first got here, before he rounded out his defensive game, personally.

Team looks excellent defensively ever since we moved on from JT.

Not having a guy who yells at everyone else for giving up on plays and then mopes and gives up on plays (all in the same game somehow) probably helps.

But most of this is having a much better defensive core with MP3.

Having a spark plug on every line (Sherwood, O'Connor, Garland, Hoglander) was huge in stacking heavy consecutive shifts..

Can't consider OEL dead cap space with that clutch penalty.

Ok I understand Demko had 2 great starts but Lankinen is there, he's saved your season but as soon as Demko looks like Old Demko you instantly ride him and toss Lankinen aside. Poor decision making, 2 week rest for Demko, hopefully after the break they stick with a balanced share to keep both guys fresh, similar to Washington.

I'd be less shocked if they played like this after adding MP3 to the existing core, but I didn't expect them to be able to play like this when they're simply replacing the already defensively solid Hughes with MP3.

Pettersson is someone that relies a lot on motivation and confidence, and I don't think he's had much of either since the signing last year. I think he's starting to get some of that joy back. Excited to see what the four nations experience does for him.

We held the leafs and Avs back to back completely. That's what good goalies and D can do. We do need to fix the offense. Petey needs more finish like what Hronek did. That will build his confidence back. Speaking of, Hronek stepping up in 43's absence like we expected him to. Cannot wait for Willander to join this top 6.
