Gave Dallas nothing, deserved to win Demko again the difference.
Completely dominate the wings, Lankinen 3 goals on like 15 shots and piss poor reffing another loss snatched from the jaws of victory. I'm ok with Demko starting, hes gonna have another long layoff with the break coming up which is exactly what he doesn't need.
Gave Dallas nothing!? 3 goals on 14 shots is a lot like a .786 save %. Lankinen gave up no bad goals and earned a point while playing .833 which is his worst save % in weeks. Without Hughes tonight could get ugly...

I usually hate nicknames, but this is SERIOUS.... The Canucks must release a statement on the acceptable nicknames for all the Petterssons.
My vote goes to EP, EP2 and MP3 (the record collector in me can't help themselves)...

The problem with Juulsen is he is contributing to goals against every game and this team just can’t afford to be giving up goals. His pk prowess his best and most valuable attribute is not really needed because we have Forbort, Pettersson, Myers and Hronek are all good penalty killers.

Elias Petterson, Defenceman Extraordinaire
  • Big physical defenceman with a good first past
  • Has a really good shot
  • Calls him the “cycle buster”; goes flying into forecheckers like he doesn’t care; a competitive guy
  • Foote and Gonchar will really help him
  • Little things need to improve like keeping his stick on the puck, boxing out properly, etc.; these things will come
  • His skating ability, shot, competitiveness, and youth are hard to find
  • Not going to call him a prospect; trying to become an NHL defenceman for them

Obviously I like what Tochett is saying here. Not exactly sure what he means by "really good shot". Haven't seen enough, so does he mean point shot; shot off the rush? Anyways, super excited about our future defence that looks like it could be stacked next year or 2. .

I agree on Juulsen obviously.

But Hoglander got himself into exactly this position with both Green and Boudreau also.

He'd had basically two total disaster years under those two guys, was a healthy scratch and then sent to the AHL ... and then Tocchet is the guy who showed confidence in him and who Hoglander turned around under for his 24-goal season.

Then his play went to shit again.

Hoglander's treatment is on Hoglander, not Tocchet. He's a dumb player. He's bad defensively. He takes a ton of stupid penalties.

I'm not so much saying that I disagree with Hoglander's treatment, but moreso highlighting how bizarre it is to castigate one player for mistakes and then allow another one to make error after error after error with no consequence. I should have been a bit more clear. I feel like all coaches do this to an extent (holding certain players to a standard, and allowing their pet projects to get away with murdering their own team)

Wouldn’t be surprised if this is a management/coaching thing of “we want this guy to waive” “we want the cap space asap” thing.

If they were content waiting til the summer, which imo they should have been, i know tocchet is in love with not having defenders play their off hand but even in this case id assume he’d play soucy.
We'll have something like 10M in capspace at the deadline, no? How many futures are we dealing that we also need Soucy off the books? If anything, a deep playoff run (I know haha) necessitates that you load up on defensive depth, right?

I dont understand how he's still making the same mistakes, what are the coaches doing exactly?

There is definitely a million video clips of his errors available, so why does he still chase (hits) behind the net and the neutral zone?!

He might be a passable number six if he was improving bit by bit, but he's not.

I'm actually excited to watch games now. It's a shame Hughes is out as I'd love to see how the D rounds out with him in the lineup. Finally, the forwards should be able to focus on breakouts and offense instead of having to play tentatively, battling to bail out incompetent D after our first pair.

For so long I felt like this team has been trying to win a race with two flat tires.

With Dragon (especially) and Deter present, everyone should feel a lot more confident, fans included.

I love how Abby is so close, guys are easily sent up and down.

Juulsen is still a son of a bitch. Hopefully Mancini is in soon, and plays great like I know he will.

Hes going to be called Junior until he retires lmao

(Junior from The Sopranos)

Petey
MP
DP
So long as the names are not able to apply to the other players to avoid confusion. The following are unique

EP40,EPC
EP2, EP25, EPD
Marcus, MarcusP, MP, MP29, MPD, MP3

If people are going to use Pete or Petey it should be the centre version only to avoid confusion. Ep40, EP2 and MP are the shortest combo and use the already used EP40 and EP2.

Exactly. Last game was basically the first game since October that I felt like looking forward to see how the game plays out. The last two months have felt meaningless.

Things could get dicey tonight. No Hughes and Demko back between the pipes, who's been sieve-like lately.

And the Av's have jet-skis on through the neutral zone. It's going to be a challenging night for a young d-man like D-Petey, if he's in the lineup.

Demko is going to have to be a lot better than he has been recently for the Canucks to eke out a win in this one.

Petey
D-Petey
M-Petey

Easy, and no confusion about who is who.

Looking forward this game. I gather its on Prime (or so I have been told) which is a major pain in the ass. Means I can only watch it on my wife's iPad

Edit - not on prime. Good.
