Who cares? We've now got a defense that's competitive at the NHL level. No more ECHL-tier guys on this backend so long as Tocchet does the right thing and scratches Juulsen.

Clearly nobody remotely on Hughes level during *any* point when AV was coach *BUT* I'll still take the depth on the blueline then (when you have a guy like Salo being the *FIFTH* top 4 guy basically). A guy like Myers would be in Abbotsford on that roster.

This should be a win, it is a scheduled win as Detroit played last night.
But often the first game after returning from a road trip can be a challenge but with the infusion of new players the emotional bump might carry the team.

Looked like Hughes may have a sports hernia or stomach muscle pull, neither are good. Both can be played through but not recommended, of course this is a guess and opinion.

The addition of M. Pettersson, now going to be called MP will give the Canucks a pretty good top 4 with Soucy and Forbort as the 5/6 dmen.

Vancouver should win but Detroit is fighting for their playoff spot in a much tighter race.

If the knee is really that bad, the time off from the 4 Nations to let it heal will be a nice bonus for him and the team (and couldn’t come at a better time with the team needing him more than ever with JT Miller gone now).

Honestly if Willander can my miracle come out swinging and be placed next to Hughes and hold his own (shouldn't be hard playing with Hughes) then we might have our best D since 2010/2011.

Forward group is still bottom 10 in the league but its nice to have a positive outlook in the future for defence.
