GDT: [GM51] Vancouver Canucks @ Dallas Stars | Fri, Jan. 31st | 5pm | SNP | Remember the Alamo?

Hes 7-0-1 Over last eight games against the stars, he has maintained a goals-against average of 2.10 and a save percentage of .931, including one shutout

Not sure if irritated is the right feeling here
How many of those previous 8 games came since Demko's return from a long absence due to injury?

I think teams make mistakes of this sort all the time. Always give the start to the guy who got a shutout in the last game, even if it's back to back. Ride a guy who's winning. Look at his record against the team coming up. Who cares if the starter gets tired and the back-up gets cold?

Demko and Lankinen both need rest at the right time, and they both need to get in a rhythm. It should be something like a 60%Lankinen/40%Demko split the rest of the way. Avoid playing Demko twice in three days.

“mistakes of this sort all the time” …. You mean looking at previous results and just making decisions based on different factors than you?

I’d argue the guy who has been this good against a particular team would give the best chance at winning. He should be able to handle two games in three nights. And they need to get him back to form.

One would be crazy to not start the goalie that has dominated a team so hard. One can argue his last start was questionable.

I’m genuinely curious: what is your theory as to why Demko’s numbers against Dallas reflect a skill against the Stars that should be used when making lineup decisions?

Maybe not a skill but the fact that he's been in the zone against this team could help him psychologically. The margins are so thin in goaltending that it sometimes seems like mind state is biggest difference between having a good night and a bad one.

I mean not giving enough consideration to rest. But you knew that.

Again, how many of those good results for Demko were post-injury?
