They're close, but yes, Finland is slightly better. Much better defense. Russia has insane wingers (Kucherov, Kaprizov etc) and good goalies but their defense is far behind the other countries.

Not saying they don't belong in the tournament (they do)...but it is what it is. It's not like their absence makes the tournament meaningless (like it would be if you left out Canada or the US).

It's just a guy. But his story is phenomenal. Finns are nice, but they are genuinely scary.

Lets agree to disagree. Again, I'm not saying Russia has a bad team on paper. They're good. But it's not clear they're better than Finland. Better offensively overall, but slightly worse on defense. It doesn't help that all of their forwards suck at defense as well. And Malkin, Ovechkin, Tarasenko etc are all old and way past their primes.

But yes, in an ideal world, I'd love to see Russia (and the Czechs) play as well. But their absence isn't going to prevent me from enjoying the tournament.
