Despite what they said, non-playoff players can and do win the Hart, though it is rare: Lemieux in 1988 is the last one to do that, and you have to go back to Andy Bathgate in 1959 for the one before that. Al Rollins in 1954 is the third and last to win the Hart and miss the playoffs.
That’s more of an endorsement of their argument to be perfectly honest.

Reactions: Dirtyclapper
Hughes will be in the Norris conversation, he's been playing lights out this year.

He should be in Norris and Hart conversations.

But he won't be, because the league hates us with a passion, and we are not going to make playoffs.

Essentially we're wasting a magnificent and outstanding season from one of the best players in team history.

Such a shame.

Hughes is the betting favorite for the Norris over Makar.

Werenskis having a hell of a season though
Hughes has the same amount of points in 6 fewer games played.

Werenski has Marchenko, Monahan and Voronkov who are all outscoring the #2 scorer on the Canucks.

Hughes has less help than Werenski and is performing better.

I agree that Werenski should #2 behind Hughes and ahead of Makar, but Hughes is leading the Canucks in scoring by 21 points.

Werenski is leading the Jackets in scoring by 1 point.

People don't realize that the Jackets are straight up a better team than the Canucks this year.
