Three biggest issues with this year's team

1.) defense.
2.)Goaltending (bottom 5 in HDSV %)
3.) both Petey and JT have underperformed and Blueger isn't the kind of 3rd line center that can make up for it.

If only one of these is an issue you're still in a comfortable playoff spot. Management probably figured the goaltending and centers could carry this team until they upgraded the defense around the deadline. I doubt they thought the core outside of Hughes would lay a giant egg all year.

Everyone and everything sucks exposing all weaknesses at once.

In other words no one is getting bailed out: the D is not getting bailed out by the goaltending, the forwards are not bailing out the D/G, etc.

It's a season-long perfect storm.

Blueger Heinen suter have all been awful at varying times this year, whole bottom-six has been pretty weak. Tons of mistakes, no offense, bad passing, bad defense, look slow.... not bueno

When I watched the Oilers in Seattle a Edmonton fan got really drunk and threatened to fight everyone in our section. 3 other people were kicked out of the stadium, all Oilers fans.

Manny is doing a great job and the atmosphere in the main team is incredibly toxic. Might be better to have then in Abbotsford.

Management must've been smoking some good stuff if they thought Demko, who was literally injured in the playoffs and couldn't finish the season with the team, was going to be a Vezina finalist again this year.

It was also obvious that Miller and Boeser were having career seasons, although their drop off has been more than expected.

And Pettersson had 6 points in the entire playoff run. Not sure exactly what they were expecting from him this season.

Like I get that the team has underperformed relative to expectations, but it's not completely out of left field here.
