couldn't watch the game, but I've got a caveat to place on a firmly held belief of mine, which is that one of the most important things we need to do is give Hronek his own pair and actually work out what he is. but the caveat is: don't try that when Tyler Myers just got suspended and Mark Friedman is the guy you'll put with Hughes instead of Hronek

I don't have any hate for Friedman, I wouldn't mind him getting more games, but maybe wait until Myers comes back until sending Hronek off to the second pair

Forbort Desharnais

So based on that they felt forced to move Hronek down and I don't blame them.

Then it becomes the hard choice of maybe looking at trading Pettersson and Hughes if the retool doesn't look promising next season.

Stop it. We're not trading Hughes unless he clearly indicates that he will not resign. I'm almost 53. I have waited an entire lifetime for a player like this. I don't care if we give him a max contract. Build around him. As such, even if things continue to go south, we should only trade Boeser if he won't sign a reasonable contract. He's a valuable player for this team. And Demko? Why move a distressed asset? Suter? Others? Sure.

There's a small contingent on here that swears Myers is decent and was worth bringing back. I'd like to believe they're trolling. Myers has had MOMENTS within a game of decent play but he's been trash for the vast majority of his tenure.

When his contract expired, I couldn't believe this team willingly brought him back. He was an abyss on the blue line for five years, they were finally free and chose to go back into bondage with him. I don't care if his price was the league minimum; ANYBODY would have been a better choice.

The fact they lost Zadorov for him is unforgivable.

Soucy has consistently been the weak link in his pairing with Myers this season. The failure to bring back Zadorov was indeed a failure. He should be here instead of Desharnais, Forbort or Heinen.

He’s been pretty bad since returning. It’s a bit telling that he can’t really carry a pairing. His shot seems to have completely disappeared too. What happened?

He was making the same blunders pre-injury as well.

I find Hronek is most exposed in his own end. Lots of bad turnovers and giveaways when he is pressured, as well as missed assignments.

He is good through the neutral zone and in the ozone (except when pinching).

Thats not what this team needs. They need a high IQ defensive D ala Tanev.

It's basically one guy at this point. Almost every night (nobody is 100% consistent) you're paying to see the best D-man in franchise history. The should be Hart and Norris winner. One of the best defenceman in the history of the game.
But yeah, outside of Quinn, you might out a lot of coin for not much entertainment.

The chaos is pretty consistent and he makes his partners worse because he makes so many little dumb decisions in terms of positioning on the ice that they don’t know where the hell he’s going to be.

Yup...I was at the game last night, tickets were free to me, but still spent $100+ on food, beer, 50/50, parking.
And the team played their boring system like crap. Boring, and a loss.

Next time just take the skytrain, have Costco hotdogs pre-game, and don't buy beer in the arena. Your experience wouldn't be as good but it will cost you like $10-15

It seems that for every game, there's a swath of black, lower bowl seats right behind the Canuck bench that are totally unoccupied. I've seen this over and over this season.

Are these corporate seats that are un-used game after game? You'd think they might ponder donating them to a kids sporting organizations or something--rather than seeing them empty most nights.

I think you could argue that last night's loss was one of the most disappointing of the season--particularly the third period. They were simply outclassed by a team that is at the bottom of the Eastern Conference and was blitzed 6-4 by the Kraken the previous night.

It's the kind of performance that triggers a major trade or gets the coach fired--but of course it's unlikely either happens, at least right now. But it's almost 'unwatchable hockey' even on television. I can only imagine how bad it must be in the rink.
