I’m guessing Sasson in for Lekkerimaki.

Sasson should be in regardless, but taking Lekkerimaki out is a mistake.

This is coaching scared hockey. It's why everyone is so tight: Their objective is to eliminate all chances against, not to score.

The defense corps is terrible, but the coaching leaves a lot to be desired too (imo).

I'm not in love with the style of play right now, but the issue last game was that the players weren't playing it safe and going in unnecessarily on 50/50 battles that they lost (and as such gave up a bunch of odd man rushes against). I'm sort of on the fence about Sasson in for Lek... Sasson actually has offensive creativity, so I'm not sure it's a downgrade.

Hoping for another ass kicking.

This core is cooked and the more we get embarrassed on national TV the better.

Need to start the rebuild asap and nothing will push the ownership quicker than mass embarrassment

I disagree. Lekkerimaki just isn't ready yet. Putting him on the top line against McDavid and Draisatl is just asking them to rip the kid apart. But that's the spot he eventually needs to secure because he's not a grinder type whereas Sasson suited to that role.

Granted, I'd probably sit Heinen a game, but we know that's not going to happen. And benching Hoglander just tanks what little value he might have left.

Did you see 2021-23? We choked away what was it, 7-9 two goal leads in the first 10 games? We could get smacked 5+ every night for the next five games and Aquilini is still not allowing a rebuild. It didn't happen in the near decade long run with Benning that built this core in the first place. It absolutely won't now.

The only way we're ever rebuilding is if Hughes walks up to Rutherford and says "trade me cause I'm not re-signing."

This team was o for 5 on the power play last game..They need to get this together asap since last season...if your getting goals the better you want to play..Why is this so hard for the coaching staff to not realize this..
I'm not a Tocchet fan .I want to see a different coach..hoping for an embarrassing loss .I love this team but not this team that's on the ice.

Sasson is a clear downgrade in offensive talent (not close), but he's roughly the same in event differential (net).

It appears the players are caught in the middle because they don't know when to push for offense. They've been coached into the ground to defend and now uncertain in how to create. Tocchet has specifically mentioned misreads and needing to relax (implying they are nervous to make a mistake).

Lekkerimaki is 6th amongst forwards in Rel Expected Goals % (tied with Sasson). 3rd in On Ice Shot Attempt %. He also played with VAN (4th line) in their last win against TOR, where Matthews/Nylander/Marner were expected to blow VAN out of the water...?

Prospects are developed to become ready. At a certain point, overthinking things (players/coaches/fans) is a detriment. You want goals? Play the goal scorer.

The only play this team has on the PP, is the Hughes off the backboard to spring a JT breakaway. Every thing else is just a circle jerk until inevitably fumbling the puck and having an odd man rush against.

Don’t really care about the game, just want Miller traded asap so this drama can end

I’m surprised how one great season has cemented Miller’s “legacy” in some ppl’s minds. Ignoring almost a decade of constant drama, butting heads with teammates and lazy defensive efforts

Oh and btw, we still don’t know what he disappeared for almost a month early this season
