LT looked so calm in his net the entire game. Not many quality chances against, but he robbed a poor guy backdoor and made it look easy.

I like the 8-80-21 line, it’s good to have two guys who are excellent in terms of puck possession. If we can get Strome and CMM going again, I could see us running away with 1st place in the East.
I think the new lines force both Ovie and Strome to move their feet. PLD and Protas both possess the puck, skate, transition, and forecheck, at a plus level, which makes Ovie's job much easier. McMichael can help transition the puck which helps Strome and Wilson does what he does on the forecheck and net front. Strome's been having a lot of issues at the blue lines in the last month or so, hopefully this change helps with that.

Hi Caps fans I'm tuning in to to see how the Grate8 is playing...so I'm scoreboard watching for his goals...how has Alexander been playing
He looks as big as a house and skates about as fast as one too. I’m guessing it’s a matter of working his way back into game shape, hopefully he can get back up to speed in a few weeks

I love the forward lines. Kind of want Strome to start viewing himself as the primary shooter on his line for a bit, being away from Ovechkin, but overall a great game and effort from the Caps tonight.
I concur on the Strome shooting more commentary. He’s got a good shot. As much a finisher as a distributor, IMO.

Away from Ovi, he needs to shoot it a lot more. Like….double whatever he was doing

Ethen was more effective than OV. Promoted to PP1 and 1st line. Never gonna happen, but OVs line is still getting caved in.
I didn’t witness them getting “caved in” much this game. Like very little.

80 & 21 simply don’t get caved in often. So 8 isn’t hurting them here.

Give them all a few games. Especially now that the 3rd and 4th lines are gelling.

Just what the team needed
Nice simple solid working effort, leaving no doubt of the W going 3-0 into the 3rd, good job
Frank's doing Frank some favors
LT!
Frank may be pushing Vrana off the NHL roster once Milano is healthy. If he continues to play this well, it's going to be extremely difficult to justify sending him down or even taking him out of the lineup. Maybe Milano comes back as the 13F in place of Vrana.

Frank's been noticeable off the puck too, board work, forecheck, some good pokes
Plus the speed and a good shot!?

Lots of good ingredients, hope he can turn it into a good stew and stay up :wbrew:

about the cleanest shift chart I've seen for Carbs:
just about running 4 lines all thru, only things can see is McM/Str/Willy sat the last 7:22 of 2nd, and Raddysh/Frank had a 6:25 stretch early in 3rd (just to find a 2nd thing to mention :)
usually Carbs has someone sitting last 14 of a pd or another 10min+ gap somewhere

D TOI p evenly spread w/ TVR 16:42, Fever 16:51, Roy 19:30, Sandin 21:16, JC74 21:59, JC6 22:14

ANA just beat CAR in OT and have also beat TBL 4-1 and WPG 4-3 in OT this January
I don't know wtf's going on in this league anymore :laugh:

Let's try not to look like ass the 1st 40mins again I guess and take another 2pts?
They also beat Edmonton in late December, and then they played pretty well in a loss to Edmonton in January.

I watch every Edmonton game. These Ducks that played the Capitals looked completely different from the version I just saw playing against Edmonton. I have to give the Capitals some credit for making them look like that.

One of I think the biggest things going for Frank was that Carbery put him out with 3 minutes left. Don't think Miro/Lappy/Vrana/Milano have ever gotten that trust.

He’s twenty 26, experienced with a great motor….those others are kids and Vrana can’t play defensive hockey…Milano I’m not sure that’s true that’s he’s never been deployed late in games, but maybe so.
