They shooting %:ed their way in to decent production in the first half of the year and then its been... well... this.

I will also say our division was total garbage last year. Edmonton with their dreadful start. Vegas was banged up all season long. LA was banged up and Dubois f***ed them over by playing like trash. Calgary was a dumpster fire.

This team lucked out winning the division while also somehow avoiding Vegas in that #8 AND drawing the weakest team in the WC.

The team is now getting similar or worse results, both at even strength and all situations, than when Boudreau was fired in 2023 no matter how you look at it (GF%, SF%, CF%, xGF%, SC%), and they’re trending in the wrong direction. Something has to give soon, you’d think, if things don’t turn around in a hurry.

The difficulty here is that there hasn't been a large enough sample size of this team healthy, so they'll have to go off of this small sample of a few games in December around Christmas (sans Hronek) and this most recent one + the next little bit.

And then you're literally at this mickey mouse four nations thing + the TDL very quickly. There's no margin for error. They've lost too many to not start winning now. And they've got to start playing really well and pull off like an 8-1-1 stretch.

Otherwise, this is the perfect season to justify significant changes. The coach is not the problem here. Your only loyalty is to winning.

I still think the team we saw after the ASG is the real Canucks. Everything before that was just good luck/unsustainable PDO. This is just the team we are. We've been like this for a calendar year.

I don't think Tocchet's system helps either. His time here might be up if things don't improve.

I've maintained some faith in our management, but their inaction and silence are starting to erode that faith. This roster is their making, and it has brought us one disappointment after another.

Part of that is personnel. Part of it is coaching. Part of it is injuries.

I think there are definitely aspects of his system that don't make a lot sense.

He's got guys like Peterrsson thinking they should be hitting instead of actually playing his game. Sure, you need to be 'tough' and gritty, but the Sedins had all the success in the world without ever hitting anyone. They pinned, they went to the hardest parts of the ice, but weren't running around looking for hits, like you see #40 trying to do too much of these days. It's not his game, never will be, and has taken away the actual skill that he brought to the team.

We hear it over and over again from Tocchet - the only way to win is to go through guys. That's definitely an aspect, and is important for some portion of players on the team, but when you're wanting everyone to bang the shit out of the other team 24/7 and that's the only key to success, that's not the answer.

Yes looking at the 2nd half production the difference is basically injuries and our defense that was solid to now just being an absolute shit show. Add Demko vs Lankinen some in fighting and even with a couple good additions up front were a middling team.

Pettersson paced the same in the 2nd half last year as he is now....were in big trouble with him if he cant pull out of it

The magic Boeser and Miller had last year just hasn't been there and we look weak and slow too many games.
