Have to consider that the Jets are are excellent, first game back for Hronek, end of an extended road trip where you flying all over North America, goal tending not up to par, etc... But there has to be real concern. Team just can't produce offense. And its not just the system. It's more that the players expected to produce offense can't, and haven't for a good while.
Good
Might make a case for Sherwood. at least in the first two periods his hustle was getting team some ozone time and he was good on the pk. Also Hoglander had some ok minutes and, unbelieveably, he actually scored. Otherwise, pretty much overly-boiled greul.
Bad
Lankanin - did make some saves to prevent it from going into double figures but also contributed to the early melt down.
Forbert- Myers - looked like early that the Forbert - Myers duo might work but that illusion quickly went up in smoke. Forbert just got continuously beat wide (or through the middle, for that matter), and that started Myers trying to cover over and then get playing out of control. Reminded me of the Benning era when they lined up Myers with AHLers, and often less than that, and Myers floundered trying to do too much.
Soucy - mediocre at best but how do you succeed when playing with Juulsen?
Miller - couple of spurts but ended in nothing. Puck movement was again overly hasty and rarely good. Like Pettersson sort of there, but sort of not, as well
Particulary Bad
Boeser - got off a couple of outside shots (that were never going to score) but other than that old lead boots was again useless. Can't be traded fast enough.
Juulsen - "The Jewel" needs to go and he needs to go fast. Please be somehow free of this player. If there is any ultimatum condemnation of present Canuck management is the amount of game time this player gets. Taken to falling down in the middle of the play of late. That compliments the general confusion in which he plays and the ham-fisted way he handles the puck.
Others
Heinen -couple of defensive plays but overall did little. Guy has the capacity (some might even say skill) to fade so far into the wood work that little can be blamed on him. Ergo he stays in the lineup.
Hughes - not his best game but most of the meaningful chances were a result of his efforts. Appears, at this time, the only thing dividing the team from being an absolute bottom feeder.
Hronek - not bad for this first game back. HIs puck movement from the back is a complete step up from what we seen lately from most of the back end.
Lekkermaki - think it is mindless to be playing him on the 4th line. Only way he is going to get the service he needs is to play higher in the lineup. I guess you could rebut this by saying that neither Miller or Pettersson could provide much of this anyhow ATM. Lekkermaki does seem to be hanging in the play decently.
Road ahead looks difficult and potentially disastrous and if there isn't some significant upturn in play by the break for the 4 nations tournament, then this team needs to get out the for sale signs and hang them around the necks of quite a few players.
