It’s incredible that all it took was one injury for a player like Myers to be thrust into a position so insanely beyond his capability. Like, I’d get it if we lost Hronek AND our second pairing right defensemen, and Myers had to step up into this position, but no, just one injury. Just an incredible managerial failing.

Yes we know. That’s why it made sense to sign Zadorov - he even played with Hughes during the playoffs as well

I’m really curious what the coaches say to Myers at this point? Are they aware that he’s terrible and have given up trying to teach him how to defend? Or do they think he’s playing quality hockey and dont need to teach him anything? Or are they expecting him to just get better by osmosis or magic or some shit?

The team should have done everything in their power to sign Tanev. Hughes, Hronek, Tanev, Soucy, and Myers with the intention of getting an LHD at the deadline would've been ideal. Would be perfect in the locker room too.

Just play Brannstrom lol.
Whoah whoah whoah.

If they do that there's a possibility he could get beat to a rebound since he's small.

That can't happen. I'd much prefer we stick with the current D who get beat wide, beat by the forecheck, beat to the middle, and eventually also beat to rebounds.

I think they believe he's the team's 3rd best Dman, on balance.

I assume they know full well he's in way over his head, but what's the alternative? Hughes-Juulsen?

Ya. I think targeting Tanev instead of Lindholm could have made a massive difference as I think we may have been able to get a home town discount from him if we had his rights.

Nah. The Tanev ship sailed when he was f***ed over and went to CGY. We shouldve signed Zadorov who was here, doing well, and wanted to stay and have a bigger role. Needed to plan for the future and a top 4 of Hughes Hronek Zadorov and Willander wouldve been pretty nice to have

There's the major f*** ups of the Jim Benning era but also so many smaller screw ups with long lasting effect. Like letting Tanev walk when he clearly wanted to stay. When he meant so much to the room.

My theory is that mgmt was close to trading our 1st in December for a dman.

Given the injuries, EP/JT drama and the teams play, that’s not on the table anymore.

So whats the scoop on the new site here? I work nights during the week so havent heard diddly.

That EASILY could've been a goal. I genuinely do not think there is a worse defensive lineup in the entire NHL right now.

Tocchet obviously sees something different in juulsen than what I see
