Tonight’s Game
  • Gave them a goal when up 3-1; too soft on a couple of plays
  • Need to move on
Difference From Last Season
  • Lack of confidence
  • Moments when you need a guy to make a play; when the team puts pressure on them, they start slapping the puck around
  • In these big moments, should want the puck
  • Too shy in contact areas
Miller
  • Is trying to do the right things
  • Went into training camp with a couple of “things that were bothering him”
  • Played a hell of a game for them tonight
Canadiens
  • They have some speed
  • Individuals need to stop skating backwards and gotta gap up
  • Need confidence in your system and yourself to gap up
Lekkerimaki
  • Was a nice goal; hell of a shot
  • Held his own tonight
  • Hopefully he builds off this game
Response to Hits
  • Don’t need to respond in kind but need to be hard right afterwards
  • Whatever the next shift is, do it hard
Play of Late
  • Just need more guys, when the pressure hits, to participate and meet pressure with pressure
  • Can’t have three guys on a line you have to have everybody
  • Guys will make mistakes but your partners need to protect the back door
  • Give the least amount of shot to the goal; have struggled with this

Only caught the first two periods. Thought Montreal was the much better team outside the first 10 minutes or so of the second period so not surprised with the result.

With the way they couldn’t handle the Montreal forecheck they are going to get destroyed by upcoming teams like Carolina.

Brannstrom does basically one thing well and it is the thing this defence is absolutely horrible at. The fact he is still sitting is such a joke.
Forbort is injured no? I guess Brannstrom will slide back in

Their medical staff cleared him to play. Why the worry? :sarcasm:

I assume our medical staff is headed by none other than...

Yeah I legitimately thought that a healthy Soucy would be a huge upgrade for us compared to last season. Having him actually there and playing like last year would more than replace anything we lost. Hes been horrible though.
Played a season low 13 minutes tonight well below Juulson/VD. Maybe he’s playing with an injury, who knows.

Canucks just are not aggressive enough system wise, not like habs are the avalanche but they out skated the canucks all night I thought after they played alot in recent days and flew home.

This is not on him. Those games were not on him. None of this is on him.

He's not perfect, he had his flaw moments and games. But he's not super human, for less than a million he's providing 4-5 times that value.

This is on our defense, and by extension on our management's failure to provide the team with defense.

I think he just can’t handle more minutes. He plays like a really good 2nd pairing guy with 3rd pairing ice time. Once you ramp up his minutes he goes to shit. Which is surprising considering how well he played last season.

We need a LD so we can bump Soucey down a pair and we need a RD to bump Myers down and shoot Juulsen into the sun.
I don’t disagree with acquiring two more defencemen so that it bumps Soucy and Myers down.

But my next question; is 6.25M between the two good cap allocation for a #5 and #6 defencemen? I think this needs to be taken into account. I’m not sure if they’re good enough to slide up to #3,4 if injuries occur.

Thoughts?

Just checked the highlight on the OT goal, Dach contacts with Lanky glove. Should’ve been interference.

Honestly NHL has been a joke with any sort of consistency for awhile, even the score keepers cant decide whats an assist or not, one game an assist is given, the next game if the other team touched it even briefly its not. Its so easy to fix but they dont bother or seem to care. Even the players have called it out.

I think that's sort of the point. This team no longer has a goalie that will steal games for them, so they had better square it off or this could get ugly. Paterson made it clear on his post-game show he didn't really think the losses were on Lankinen.
