And free agent bust Carson Soucy has been absolute shit since he got here.
This isn't the one from Minnesota or Seattle, f*** happened to this ******
He was great his first ~dozen games he played here before the injury which is even more perplexing.

I might be misremembering but I recall universal hate on the Desharnais signing and very mixed feelings with Forbort. I honestly don't mind Myers at his price tag, although it's not ideal, but Soucy turning into a complete plug was hard to predict.
Myers on a bottom pairing is perfectly fine. He still brings some offensive utility and can play minutes when needed.

It's not his fault he's the second best defenseman on the roster at this point.

There's a reason why Hughes played this game in a splint. People were up in arms about bringing him back prematurely, but as if they had a choice. If he says he's good to go, he's playing.

Petey is not saving this team..Its Tocchets 1980s system he is trying to get this team to play. And with a shit defense it's not working..I keep saying Tocchet is the issue..
Coach of the year last year. Took a terrible team into a team that went to 7 games against a good oil team.

The real problem this year is:

1 - high expectations on one good season.
2 - a regular shitstorm of injuries.

This was a team playing to their expectations. I thought everyone played well relative to what I would expect of them. Miller looked engaged and made some great play, Hogs had jump, and while lek, was mostly over his head, you can see his talent on his goal.

Make no mistake though, it wasn’t reffing or anything like that causing our loss… it was this atrocious defence.

Yes some blame clearly goes to management, they didn’t do a good enough job bringing in the right talent. However so much blame also goes on the coaches…

branstrom is a number 6 defencemen. He isn’t good… but I would take a defense filled with him over one with forbort and Desharnais, Juulsen. Good god…

I think he just can’t handle more minutes. He plays like a really good 2nd pairing guy with 3rd pairing ice time. Once you ramp up his minutes he goes to shit. Which is surprising considering how well he played last season.

We need a LD so we can bump Soucey down a pair and we need a RD to bump Myers down and shoot Juulsen into the sun.

Myers was so close to scoring a beauty tonight. .... just sayin'

Blame Hoglander or the soft call by the refs, but this team struggles to move the puck from the back end, get hemmed in way too often, and are way too sloppy playing defense. The back end is too slow either to pass or skate the puck out, outside of Hughes and Hronek at least.

Still have no one else to blame but Allvin. He gave Tocchet this defense.

He was good in the first year, team record with & without showed this. He has been awful this year, giving a player like this a NMC will do this, realistically he's a bottom pair dman.

Allvin and Rutherford gave this team this defense, it was poorly constructed.
Outside of Hughes and Hronek, it's bad.
Forbert and Desharnais ain't gonna cut it.

I think we need to stop worrying about Pettersson vs Miller and start worrying about how this team and that defence can’t keep a lead. We were lights out last year going into the 3rd but this year we are the complete opposite…just bleeding points at an alarming rate.

Hurry up and make that trade Alvin.

Yeah I legitimately thought that a healthy Soucy would be a huge upgrade for us compared to last season. Having him actually there and playing like last year would more than replace anything we lost. Hes been horrible though.

He better hurry up, Aquaman is about to go nuclear soon if he hasn't already.
Also, Rutherford should get the memo too.

This is the same D that Bruce and Travis had. Why does Tocchet get the pass? It's actually probably still better then what they had actually. Lol.

They both had shit rosters too, but that has nothing to do with it.

The team is the middle of the pack while being decimated with injuries. If we were somewhat healthy we'd likely be firmly in a playoff spot like we were before the injuries.

So I fail to understand the disconnect or what the problem is. Once we get healthy we'll be fine.

If once we're healthy we're still shitting the bed you can point to the coach.

So far under Tocchet this team has not underperformed relative to their roster on paper. If anything they have overperformed on the whole.

Man I've been very optimistic about this teams potential but for the first time I'm starting to think they might not make the playoffs.

.. and that's with Hughes returning (in brilliant fashion) and JT having a vintage performance !!

What happened to the team that locked games down when leading into the 3rd? This is like the 22-23 Boudreau Canucks where no lead is safe, a complete 180.

I do agree they really missed Pettersson tonight..aside from Miller's line the forwards didn't have much, and he is so good defensively too.

Entertaining game but that was a tough one to let slip away. It only gets harder from here..
