Judging Tocchet right now when the team has had such horrendous luck with injuries/personal matters this year seems shortsighted. Can say all we want about the questionable construction of the defense, but to have this much of the year without many of your top contributors is hard to work through in the end.

Think about how Colorado would be doing without MacKinnon, Rantenan, and Makar, Edmonton without McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard/Ekholm, or Winnipeg without Hellebuyck, Scheifele, JoMo, and Kyle Connor. Team has just been absolutely decimated this year.

I want Miller off this team long before Pettersson.

The way some of the talk sounds like the team is bottom 5 and Tocchet has f***ed up at every turn. The team is still in a wildcard spot with all the injuries, Tocchet is doing what he can. (Don't love the refusal to play Brannstrom when puck moving is such an issue.... but anyhoo.)

Agreed, and what's worse is that other teams are consistently using them to turn the tide of games against us. It happens all the time.

When things are going good, he's a "beast". When things aren't great, he actively makes them worse with his constant pouting, giving zero effort on the ice, and throwing temper tantrums at teammates.

I should point out, Rick Tocchet seems absolutely exhausted.

Babysitting Miller is a full-time job on its own.

I'm not a Tocchet fan but I gotta admit he's trying to coach an NHL team with a blindfold on and hands tied behind his back with the roster he currently has to work with. So gotta give him credit for always coming out and staying positive. Not an easy thing to do as a human being.

I don't think Tocc is the problem really, but he's got to make some more optimal decisions.

It's not obvious at all.

* it always depends on the return. 40 gives more flexibility and return
* you assume that trading Miller solves the mercurial nature and poor play vs contract of Pettersson.
* That you get leadership buy in and effort going forward to lead this team to a contender because you just got rid of the proven player
* you assume that the rest of the remaining core are happy with that decision

Yeah. Miller's own former teammates say he's hard on guys and rubs them the wrong way.

The vibes were better when Miller was on his leave. Team was lighter. Tocc looked lighter. Players looked happier. They actually had some effort with their play on the ice.

dont they all sit in the same seats on the planes for roadtrips. i remember his seatmate was myers before. if the room is so toxic that would apply the same for plane rides and bus rides no?

Meyers has a no-trade clause and he won't waive it. His son Tristan has health problems and he doesn't want to leave Vancouver for Tristan's sake.

If this was the case, why weren't they able to sign him to a more team-friendly contract? It has been assumed that he got 3 x 3 because he would've walked otherwise.
