Canucks mgmt is aware of Zibanejad and how much he's fallen off. Zibanejad doesn't make the team better now. If they trade Miller it won't be for a straight across aged player.

They'll trade for a good defender, or younger pieces with potential. Or picks/futures that'll they'll turn around and flip a la Hronek. They want to win now though.

Any trade of EP over Miller would be one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history.

He looks completely checked out to me. All of the other controversy surrounding him this season makes the choice a no-brainer.

Regardless, this team doesn't stand a chance with this defense. Management assembled one of the the worst backends in the league and the season will be toast if Hughes isn't back ASAP.

As long as Tocchet doesn't say in his post-game presser 'that's a tough team over there'.

This Predators team is really bad.....I mean reallllly bad.....the fastest guy on the ice was Vinnie
Hinostroza......yes the same Vinnie Hinostroza who's on his seventh NHL team.

Their blueline when Josi is off the ice, might actually be slower than Vancouver. Did I just stay that?

These are the kind of games you look back on when you miss the playoffs by a couple of points. Two losses to this sad-sack Predator's team on home ice is really a joke.
well the funny thing is there's an argument that Preds and Canucks are kinda similar teams, but it's just that Nashville couldn't score a goal for most of the season and the Canucks shooting percentage was still really sky-high

I'd be much less likely to beat the dead horse that is Miller's poor play if he gave the remotest of a crap out there.

Do you want to trade the whole core then? Even if you trade Miller, I think Tocc's public conduct has lost Pettersson.
You really think Tocc can win with this group when he can't adapt or evolve?
You don't mean that maybe it's not the coaches?

It's sometimes normal for a group to lose confidence in a coach and I give them a pass for tuning out Travis Green but there's some serious red flags about how they gone about quitting on the coaches so quickly. Miller in particular becomes such a loser.

basically the whole reason to trade JT is because of Zibanejad. they're the same age on the same contract. Zibanejad is a massive warning sign for us as we consider our own future. To trade for him would be insane.

Feel bad for Lankinen..guy has been fantastic playing behind that shit defense.
Demko has seen enough and has checked out already. Time to cut ties with some of the core..Boeser,Myers,Demko,Miller it's obvious these guys have checked out.

Meyers has a no-trade clause and he won't waive it. His son Tristan has health problems and he doesn't want to leave Vancouver for Tristan's sake.

Last year the Canucks got a lot out of guys like Blueger, Suter, Joshua, Hoglander, Di Giuseppe and some other guys on their third-fourth liners like Lafferty and Aman.

But at the end of the day, these guys would be classified as 'journeyman pro's', at least that's really what they've been this season. And they've reverted to what they probably were all along--replacement level players. And when you have to move them up in the lineup, you get what you get tonight.

Take Hughes, Pettersson and a disinterested Miller out of the equation and they're a 'lottery team', pure and simple.

Miller hasn't scored on a goalie since Oct.26th. He picks up assists but it covers up his lacking season.

Gotta trade him before the dinosaurs out in the league wake up to the fact he's 32, seemingly with a neck issue and 6 years left in his contract. Sell high, get a dman and hope his toxicity gone will help things.

Call Chicago, New York (x2), Boston and Detroit!

Miller has an NMC throughout his contract. Given his ego I highly doubt he'd contemplate a scenario where he goes and Petey stays.

Then there's 0 chance he approves trades to teams that are not making the playoffs.

Moving him will be extremely difficult, Pettersson not as much.

Even in the darkest and most dismal of nights there are those lighter shards of broken light. Got to look carefully but hope can always detect them.

The Lit Shards

Lankanin - find of the year. One of him or Demko could be moved at the dead line, if the Canucks fall out of it, and bring back something valuable help in a retool that now looks like an increasing possibility. Was again excellent and prevented a possible blow out.

Sasson - played well enough for me to actaully get his name right. At times, the best player on the ice. If he can continue this progression he should be come a bona vide middle 6 NHL player.

Desharnais - maybe a mirage but looking more and more like he isn't a complete disaster and can maybe play a bottom pairing adequately. Played 22 mins and really little to complain about

Myers - has shown he can step up when asked. You wonder if he can only play well when he can get the freedom to move up and force the play. Maybe not a player who does well when he asked to play it simple and steady in his end. Remember when Boudreau first came and let Myers more of less run wild and Myers was effective.

The Dark Shards

Boeser - useless

Heinen - useless

DeBrusk - approaching useless

Brisebois - got caught up to in this game. Made some massive mistakes in the neutral zone leading to great chances and the winning goal. I think he might have been in the Canuck organization for the longest period. That's lots of development time which I think we can now safely say is over. Welcome Brannstrom back.

Others

Miller - plays in spurts. Was creating some offense but there must be some health issues that prevent him from playing full out, all of the time. If he is hurt then deserves some credit for trying to play through it. He is a good player but likely a hurt one. Has to be considered when thinking of moving him. Can he return to form? If so, then team should shut him down if they fall out of playoff contention and get him ready for next season.

Garland - didn't have mojo really going in this game. Gave everything the night before and was a key to the win. Hard for him to duplicate that in this game. If he isn't going, just another reason the team can't produce goals.

It's early but given the team's play, and even more so the injuries, it's likely we'll see a lot more games like we did tonight. Games of near zeero offense.

There's lots of things the team could do to make his life miserable and want out.
In fact they mostly coddle him, which is interesting considering how he's perceived by the league.

They only need 2 teams to bid for him and raise the price...
