GM36: Caps @ Wings 5:00PM EST

Sorry,

All fans for all teams have been complaining about it. Players want to play hard and give it there all, but if you have to play a game less than 24 hours later, you can't give it your all in the 2nd game. Frankly, I think the way the scheduling has been for many teams, the injuries have gone up more. I love hockey but the NHL has been valuing their profits more than the health of the players. I would hope the players union brings this up in next CBA.
But the CBA is also the body that argues to have the players play in the Olympics, 4 nations, juniors, etc. Players want to play for their countries. Something has to give. It is what it is in terms of scheduling. This difference is the minimum allowable (22 hours between start times) allowable in the CBA,

I assume you have some stats to back that claim up?

I get that it's tough, and if it's something the PA wants to fight for the next CBA then I'm all for it (although it would require giving up something else in return). Teams play B2Bs fairly often though without getting embarrassed like we just did.

On a macro level -- hockey's an entertainment product, I watch the team to be entertained, players are paid to entertain. It feels shitty when you pay for tickets, make plans to go to a bar with friends, or even just set aside some time on a weekend for the team and they just give up like they have now.

Sorry, but 3 of the 4 goals Lindgren is capable of stopping. 3rd one no chance, but I will say he attempted to pick off that pass with his stick, missed and that delayed his reaction to attempting the save by a second(for a goalie that is a big deal). 4th one to stretched out with his glove but never got back to his feet. I have seen him get up quick from something like that. The first 2 he was just about square on each shot but, did not stop either shot. Could be he's shaking off some rust/rhythm...

As a goalie, I have a certain mentality where I expect to stop shots whether the team is playing the best or not. I'm not seeing that from Lindgren today.

Lingren with the juicy rebound. He’s got to be close to being pulled.
Well Thompson just played (as is well noted here, 22 hours ago) so I don’t expect Chucky to get pulled unless it gets to 6-1. And even they they might not pull him. This is part of the rotation philosophy.

I follow TheHockeyGuy, as he does daily updates on NHL player injuries. From what I have seen so far, injuries are up. With all teams playing a good deal of back2backs so far, players recovery time for next game is cut shorter. Players skate hard for 45 sec shifts. On the 2nd night, you aint gonna have as much jump. Then try playing 3 games in 4 days or 4 in 6. It takes its toll on the players and games can get a bit sloppy.

Lappy was the glue
Disagree.

Wings played 2 days ago, also at home, so they haven't had to travel at all. They have been playing bad with Lalonde, he gets fired and TMac is their new coach now. The players want to impress their new coach. This was a bit of trap game.

Chychrun one of the few bright spots. That extension can't come soon enough
gotta think those conversations start in January. I’m sure the agent/player and GM agreed to not talk until xxx. I think both camps (not just with Chychrun) have seen what they need to see.

Players are likely more motivated to get a deal done before an injury. Then there is the matter of the market. Caps tend to be quiet and then all of the sudden one day it is announced. They also usually don’t drag their feet too much if they are ready.

This might be one of the worst teams on b2b games i've ever seen. They're downright horrendous.

Lots of jokes about lappy and who will be the new whipping boy but I think this is yet another data point in favor of the third line not being fixed just by taking him out ...
