Okay. That sucked. No way to sugar coat it. Every team has a stinker every once in a while. FLA got blanked by the Habs earlier today 4-0 for example.

Hopefully QH and EP return to the lineup next game. We are a much diminished team without Hughes, but this is hardly a revelation to anyone here.

Reset and onto the next one. Reinforcements are coming. Have to believe that Allvin is working on it as we speak...

This year it feels like every other game is a stinker

I’m not panicking anymore today than I was yesterday. The defense needed fixing yesterday, it still needs fixing today. For the long term future of this team.

This result is disappointing AF. But some of the comments about selling everything and whatnot are a little overboard.

Agreed.

The Canucks do have several defense prospects (Willander, Pettersson and Kudryavtsev) that are probably good enough to play in the top 6 right now (with Hughes and Hronek out).

I'd rather continue to develop them properly than rush them up though.

I'd be okay with making a trade for a decent defenseman with some term. Wouldn't want to pay more than some mid-round picks for a stopgap defenseman though.

im not surprised. forbort and chaos myers as your top pairing isn't gonna be pretty. soucy got hurt? jesus how do u blow a 3 goal lead heading into the third period. this game is gonna make alvin/rutherford pay up for that top 4 D. the longer this goes, its gonna be a diasater from here on out depending on how long ep40 and qh is out for. i think this D takes the award for worst assmebled since benning era. at least he had some decent names. sbisa,gudbranson,hutton.kb3.edler

Myers usually sucks in the D zone. Tonight he also sucked in the O zone. Multiple times he made bad shots and passes that ended up in odd man rushes
he sucks everywhere. they dont call him chaos giraffe for nothing.

What an ABSOLUTE joke of an ending, Canucks played almost a full 60 minutes of good hockey, only to BLOW that lead at the final five minutes and OT in this game. So many chances to get that empty net, and they just let the Kraken off the hook. COME ON NOW. Tocchet needs to address this situation ASAP, this is very unacceptable. is tocchet getting fired..?

Forbort, Desharnais, Myers, Brannstrom, Soucy, Juulsen

if there isn’t a move made for a dman by next game, Allvin isn’t a serious GM.
throw in the towel keep all your assets and trade whoever minus sherwood heinen lankiene etc.

Today’s Game
  • Needed a couple of composure plays and didn’t get them
  • Have to protect the guts of the ice
  • Was a 4-line game and were feeling good about themselves
  • Didn’t execute on the 3-on-1 in OT
  • Can’t throw everything out because, for the most part, the team played well
  • Doesn’t know if it was 3 days off but were good until 5 minutes left
  • Can look at every goal against and see where I Canuck could have made a play
  • Had chances to score on the empty net
  • This game slipped away; this one hurts
  • A couple of individuals don’t feel good about themselves and need to be ready for the next game
Third Goal Against
  • Was an execution play
  • Have to be hard on the puck
Hughes & Pettersson’s Absence
  • Some guys are getting more opportunity
  • Looking for players to embrace the opportunity with these guys out
  • Doesn’t know how long they will be out and hasn’t talked to the evaluators
  • Will know more about their timelines tomorrow
  • Safe to say day-to-day
Juulsen
  • Needed to box-out Sprong
  • Bad things happen when a defenceman stays in the crease
Tocchet’s OT Record
  • Executing plays and defending properly is why he has a bad record
Demko
  • Scramble goals off our defenceman
  • He was fine and is the least of their problems
Top Line
  • Good sign to get some production from them

For ppl blaming toc for putting out certain defense pairings, there really isn't much options. What would u put out there, it wouldn't make much of a difference

Missed the game in real time, but caught the highlights. The Canucks blueline was as bad as advertised, but let's get real here. That might have been one of Demko's worst performances in goal in his Canuck career.

You really can't win when your goaltender plays like that. They probably win with Lankinen in the crease, and there's not too many times when the backup goaltender gives them a better chance to win.

But the hard reality is that without Hughes and Pettersson, this team really isn't much better than the Kraken, who won't get a sniff of the playoffs this year.

Hopefully the team is as angry about this embarrassment as the fans are. The best thing they can do is rebound and put it in the rearview mirror for everyone.

I will say, a good portion of you are completely out to lunch when it comes to coaching. Like, you don’t actually know anything about systems, how coaches affect the game, etc.

I've notioned this for years but you'll always get someone that nitpicks one incident from each game and then thinks the coach is an utter failure through their lense of confirmation bias.

Basically anyone calling for Rick Tocchet right now are over-reacting on an entirely different level and it's not really worth discussing.

Trading ANY picks for rentals would be a Nonis-like mistake when most of his teams had flaws and glaring issues. We should fully be looking to clear the books with guys like Hoglander, Desharnais and Heinen.

now that you mention it, coming out of the offseason with forbort and desharnais is pretty carney, weinrich, ans brown-esque

That might have been one of Demko's worst performances in goal in his Canuck career.
He let in a bad first goal. The second goal caromed off of his defenceman. Third goal was a guy all alone in front of him. Fourth goal, about the only thing you could claim was that he didn't quite control the rebound but it wasn't an easy shot to control. Fifth goal was a breakaway.

I came to the conclusion that Tocchet would be fired after the Utah game. He's lost the room and each game that becomes more clear.

At this point management shouldn't give him any help... the 1st will be more useful in the off-season.
Replace him with who exactly?

The defence is clearly the problem - everyone knows that.

My only criticism is not utilizing a time out when momentum started shifting towards the Kraken late in the game to try and calm the team down.

People keep blaming the coach, but we already have went thru so many coaches. At some point you have to say it is on the players

We've also gone through a lot of players...

The defence is clearly the problem - everyone knows that.

My only criticism is not utilizing a time out when momentum started shifting towards the Kraken late in the game to try and calm the team down.

It was said that the Kraken had called a timeout after the 3rd goal, so Tocchet didn't need to. Fair.

The majority here are just fans who’ve never played any sport at a high level, never coached a team, no idea what goes on in the dressing room. No way they can know what is going on other than what is on the scoreboard.
