I will say, a good portion of you are completely out to lunch when it comes to coaching. Like, you don’t actually know anything about systems, how coaches affect the game, etc.
You're noticing that too, huh? It's a bit of a downgrade in how knowledgable this board was in general about the inner workings of the game about 5 to 10 years ago. I try not to be too judgemental about it, because you can't expect all fans to be at the same level, but it does get hard not to roll your eyes when the ones who clearly don't know are among the loudest and most opinionated.

Demko let in 5 but I dont blame this game on him one bit. The 1st goal wasnt good but Id still put more blame on Myers for it if you watch it

I will say again.

Tocchet is basically done as the coach here. He's lost this room and it's become apparent since the Utah loss and only getting worse as time goes on. I don't see how he bounces back because he doesn't have the creativity or humility to adjust or evolve. He will stubbornly continue to flounder and not recognize it's making him sink faster

Either management keep him for the year with no trade help and see how the dice rolls or they try to salvage the season with a replacement.
He's obviously one of the most talented coaches in the western confrence. I'm sure a lot of teams would be thrilled if we jettisoned him and they could get the chance to snap him up. I assure you he wouldn't be out of work long.

Wake up Allvin this is on you. Half a season now and nothing has been done. Most if not all fans knew going into this season with Hughes, Hronek, Myers, Soucy, Forbort, Desharnais and Juulsen would be an absolute disaster. Tirefire of defense. Especially if Hughes and Hronek went down to injury. Chosing Myers over Zadorov because you're too stubborn to give Zadorov a extra year and a extra 200k. Hell I'd take the 5 years of Zadorov over the 3million of Myers for a extra 3 years. All of this knowing damn well that contract negotiations with Zadorov went to a stalemate in Calgary. You knew what the specific player wanted and you blew it to bring in you're shitty backup plan Desharnais.

The ball is in your court now Allvin. Now do something, this massive f-up is on you.
TBF to Allvin it was always going to be an uphill battle patching up the blueline. The fact he not only acquired Hronek as a safe asset and then locked him up longterm is already a goddamned EANHL miracle, filling the elusive #1 RHD slot with someone that can actually play the role while being dealt a weak hand. Imagine removing Hronek from that equation... yeah...

The problem was that to fill the bottom 4 we'd always be limited by the cap, and when he went shopping last offseason Allvin chose size over ability to move the puck. Even if he made the hindsight decisions (i.e. Z over Myers and no Desharnais/Forbort) we'd still have no cap space to sign TWO RHD to be in the lineup fulltime. That's why unfortunately Zadarov had to walk, but I do think Allvin panicked and went quantity-over-quality.

Or he could've saved money on the forwards, but then we'd be even more savage towards Miller/Petey not performing with JDB's absence. Hopefully no one blames Allvin for not predicting Joshua would have to battle testicle cancer...

Canucks got a little cocky with the lead there. Rather than button it down started looking to setting up people for open net goals. Forwards started deserting the zone for long passes.... and of course defense caved. On top of that Demko fell apart. Terrible loss on a absolutely horrible play by Myers but, in reality, it was just one of many dreadful plays late in the game.

Maybe the worst loss of the year.

Good

Boeser - couple of goals. Getting to the net and doing what he gets paid to do. In the run of things no better than ok but getting some goals is huge for this team and he is doing that.

Garland - not at his best, but biggest spark the team has right now.

Bad

Saucy - looks hurt. Nice play of the second Boeser goal but way to many turnovers and a lot of sloppy play in his end. Continues his poor run of play of late. Obvioulsy playing with Juulsen doesn't help.

Forbert - can't play. Why in the hell was he signed???? Rather see Brisbois or Wolanin - least they can skate. Been awhile since we had a defenseman this bad. Abysmal, as expected in this game.

Myers - One of those "What the F---?" moments in OT. On the game wasn't awful but damn that was bad. Getting overplayed in the absence of Hughes and late in the third and in the OT it showed.

Demko - A couple of the goals were very poor. He was one of the main factors in the loss. Lankanin, in form, easily pulls this game out for the team.

Others

- Miller - little better overall. Contributing to some offense and better defensively.

Sasson - does not look out of place. Making the most compelling case to stay up of any the players brought up this season.

With losses like this, and with If Hughes and Pettersson out for any significantt time, inevitably you're back to looking at the draft and wondering if we're better to be sellers.

Happy NewYear Everybody :).

Next Year can't be much worse than the way this one is ending:eek3:

Okay. That sucked. No way to sugar coat it. Every team has a stinker every once in a while. FLA got blanked by the Habs earlier today 4-0 for example.

Hopefully QH and EP return to the lineup next game. We are a much diminished team without Hughes, but this is hardly a revelation to anyone here.

Reset and onto the next one. Reinforcements are coming. Have to believe that Allvin is working on it as we speak...

So glad I missed this game as I'm not emotionally mature enough to go through this kind of thing. It's difficult to maintain any expectations of success when confronted with this roster on defence. Woof.

You worry they'll shit the bed and then they do that very thing.

There has never been a poster who has pissed me off more than you have the last 30 minutes.

After many of us just experienced the worst choke job of this franchises history, when we, rightfully so, come on here to vent our frustrations, you come in to the PGT and

1. Defend Myers after the countless countless countless errors we’ve seen over the last 5 years culminating into the shitshow we just watched

and

2. Think it’s a perfect time to showboat your egotistical holier than thou act with how we should act after, again, one of the most frustrating losses we’ve probably seen in a regular season game.
CM will never bad mouth Myers. It just wont happen so Id just leave it alone. I think it speaks to how good of a person he is and Id love to have him as a dad. I could never disappoint him No matter what I did

At this point, need to accept this year might just be what it is.

Almost everything went right for most of last year.

Regression to the mean this year.

Focus needs to be fixing the defense with one eye on this year and next.

But sweet Jesus, something needs to be done.

Even if it’s playing some guys in Abby in the bottom 6 on occasion to get them NHL experience and see what they got.

Looking at EP2 specifically.

The Jim Benning era of hockey is back! Honestly, we should have seen it all coming when they doubled down on Myers.

Despite all the issues and the step back compared to last year, this would still be one of the best seasons of the Benning era in terms of results. Still at .600 right now, which would be the second best season of the Benning era, behind only 2014-15.

That 2014-15 team was pretty good at overtime hockey (12-5), so the regular time results for this season are still better than any Benning era season.

I am not going to jump on your bandwagon. I am not going to hate because you hate. We are half a season removed from Tocchet winning the Jack Adams and management being highly praised by everyone in the hockey business. We are only months away from Kevin Bieksa and Ray Ferraro heaping tons of praise on Tyler Myers for his play the last couple of years, yet you want me to jump on your bandwagon and hate as much as you do and to be as stunningly unaware of the game of hockey as you are. Recency bias is the domain of idiots with memories worse than goldfish.

No hockey player, team, coach or management is perfect, and neither are people in general. And as you've proven here tonight, certainly not you. You go ahead and panic and vent and wring your hands and shake your fists. Not me. I will do what adults do.

And seriously, if I make you so angry, get some help.

Thanks, I guess. But I've been critical of Myers many times.

Took me 2 seconds to find this.
