Guys, yes, it was an embarrassing loss. It's maybe the worst regular season choke in team history. But many of the comments from some of you about Myers and management and coaching are even more embarrassing. This team is decimated by injuries right now. The sky is not falling. Jesus Christ.

Wake up Allvin this is on you. Half a season now and nothing has been done. Most if not all fans knew going into this season with Hughes, Hronek, Myers, Soucy, Forbort, Desharnais and Juulsen would be an absolute disaster. Tirefire of defense. Especially if Hughes and Hronek went down to injury. Chosing Myers over Zadorov because you're too stubborn to give Zadorov a extra year and a extra 200k. Hell I'd take the 5 years of Zadorov over the 3million of Myers for a extra 3 years. All of this knowing damn well that contract negotiations with Zadorov went to a stalemate in Calgary. You knew what the specific player wanted and you blew it to bring in you're shitty backup plan Desharnais.

The ball is in your court now Allvin. Now do something, this massive f-up is on you.

I'm normally a pretty calm guy when it comes to hockey. I try not to get too high but I certainly bask in the victories. I try to let losses roll off my back and quickly move on. I can't change what happened nor is there anything I can do in the moment to affect the outcome.

But this loss, this one right here, has filled with me with a kind of unrestrained anger that I have no felt in many years. Just a seething disgust for damn near every defenceman on this team. There's things I'd happily do to each of these players that would get me convicted for war crimes normally reserved for the most foul of soulless humans.

I'm with you. Maybe not seething, more apathetic now.

They built the defense wrong. In isolation, each player is on a fair contract (overpayment for Desharnais), but together it's one of the most tone deaf directions coaching/management can take a DCorps, and it's killing them.

Aside: What stopped Tocchet from calling a timeout to settle the team? They were crumbling, not protecting the middle, and you do nothing?

Yeah, there's a lot to make one discontented with this team. A lot.

Here's the thing. Canucks didn't resign Ian Cole, who was one of our best and most dependable defensive d men last year because he had a couple of bad (and also somewhat unlucky) games when it mattered most -- when the Canucks were facing elimination VS the Oilers in the playoffs. Might not have been such a big loss, but it was fairly needless, and it compounded when they weren't able to afford Zadorov. ALso didn't help that the guys that they replaced those two with were not nearly as good or dependable as either of them.

So that's why I'm not as quick as some of you to fire Juulsen into the sun. He's had a lot of great games where he was a good 3rd pairing guy. He's useful, but not when you depend on him too much. The answer is not to get rid of him, the answer is to help him out.

I remember seeing this line a lot during the Benning years, although now isn't as bad as then (hopefully).

Injuries or not, they had a 3 goal lead and all they had to do was run down the clock and flip pucks off the glass and for some reason they are making blind passes through the middle and making the worst decisions possible.

If you're coaching a team that is blown up by injuries you hammer home how to close out a game up 3 goals in the third and use your timeout if needed.

You're right. The team totally choked, like I said.

The problem is any trade for any impact defencemen right now is going to cost a 1st round pick.

I’m not sure if I want to pay that price, considering how this team is doing

CM, the 'decimated by injuries' excuse rings hollow when your team has the 2 best players on the ice: Demko and Miller. There's still a relative advantage at the top end.

And despite the injuries they had this game controlled for 50 min...

If you can get someone young like Byram, you absolutely do it. Even in the realistic worst-case scenario (barring a serious injury to Hughes), that pick will end up being 12th or something, which is a reasonable price to pay for a young D under team control.

Daniel Sprong changed the momentum of the game with his “once a game” end to end rush which lead to a goal.

What the heck did future considerations do for us this game?

Pitchforks out!
