The Canucksdesperately need Brannstrom back in the lineup. Sure he's going to lose his share of battles along the wall because of his size.

But he's actually capable of making a decent first pass and skating the puck out of his own zone. Watching some of the lumbering lummoxes in the Canuck bottom four is painful at times.

It's not much wonder the Canucks are struggling to score five-on-five goals. Nobody on the blueline, not named Hughes, can transition the puck. The forwards are dying on the vine for decent passes. It's basically just off the glass and out.....or a blind giveaway back to the point.

It's ugly folks.

I know Tocchet loves his PDG, but I think the Canucks really miss Max Sasson's speed out there.

Watching this young Sharks team jetting around the ice, you come to the painful realization that the Canucks are a slow hockey team......I mean reallllly slowwwww.

Nice game. Going to evaluate all bad advanced stats as score effects.

Merry Christmas everyone!

(Now go get us a top 4 defenseman, or two, from the NYI…give up our 1st)

A close 'second' was the reporter who asked, "how important was it for Heinen to stand up for his team-mate?"

I mean what's Tocchet's going to say: "it really wasn't important at all, and we'd rather he had turned turtle out there".
Most of the questions asked during the post game scrums fall into the cliche or dumb category.
Almost insulting to the average iq person.

On the flip side, PDG has been a nice addition with his heavy hitting forecheck and board battles. I personally wouldn't remove him from the line up.

I've been quite pleased with PDG since his call up. The guy has a real motor and he rarely makes a mistake. He just plays a very simple, smart game and doesn't hurt you.

I can’t remember the last time Hughes and Pettersson were both the most dominant players TOGeTHER on a game.

Like they were far and away the best underlying numbers, points, etc etc

Just been so long

Not the fault of Hughes who is having a pretty dominant season (imho) considering he has to hold down the fort on the blueline (and with the injuries to players), it's not like he has a "JT Miller" to help carry the burden up front like another forward does.

Ohh yeah, Hughes far and away not even close best player, but the odd game Pettersson has been decent it just hasn’t coincided

Some good things for sure but beating a team with 2 teenagers in primary roles that just came off a 1st OA isn't much of a measuring stick

Small and slow for years now. The Canuck way.

Chill, it is SJ, they can't do this against the contenders.

PDG is the Alex Biega of forwards - play him a couple games, rest him a couple games, rinse and repeat, and you will get a consistent NHL performance for minimum cap hit. Play him every game and performance will go from NHL to AHL level.

Really the perfect non top* six/four kind of layer to have in a cap world

*notice I did not hyphenate. Suck it hyphen nazis, all you get for xmas is a lump of cole**

** I know, right? Suck it spelling nazis, cole for you too
