I know this is an over reaction but there’s a huge part of that doesn’t believe in this core. It’s been like this for years, under several different coaches now.

Nothing has worked. They have gotten little coaching bumps then it always regresses.

-Defense isn’t good enough, not enough puck movers.
-Not enough size and scoring on the wings.
-Miller skating around sad/angry every game.
-EP a shell of himself for the last year.
-Demko years of injury problems.

Hughes is the only non issue I would build around.

I would move Miller because of his attitude but I also think he’s going to be a more attractive piece than EP. His playing style and contract.

Remember what Tbay paid for Jeannot?

Could move Suter, Lankinen, Miller and start an amazing rebuild just with that.

I’m so sick of the short cuts this team has always taken. There are 2 good prospects in the system with nothing else coming. This team has decimated its farm system for years.

For 1 year, make some long term decisions and cash out on a few guys.

I'm really starting to really feel for Quinn Hughes. Such a mercurial talent and closing in on 'generational status' as a hockey player--but looks to be wasting away in Vancouver.

Trade Miller . Try and get this train back on track. He will return enough to help. Pettersson is who we committed to and we are building around. He looks like a different player with Miller in the line up .

I really wondered at times last year whether or not there was a 'shelf life' for Tocchet hockey.

And looking at the Canucks these days, there may not be much room on the shelf or the bandwagon.

Watching Pettersson playing 'dump and chase hockey' just looks weird to me. At times he's just hoisting the puck out of his own zone with no thought of playing possession hockey. The team really is generating very little on the offensive side of the puck.

The extended offensive zone time that was so much a feature of last year's team, is basically AWOL this year. Trouble is, Tocchet's system is an energy-draining, suffocating system. And at times the player look like they're just tired of trying to play it.

2 more years and he will be in Jersey. He’s probably counting the days.

Sad to say, but it's a very realistic scenario. There's really little incentive for him to stay.
It's one thing if this team is competitive (and if NJ isn't in 2 years time).
Or if he's not super close with his brothers (but he is). The fact both of them are on the same team too.

Unless NJ has no reasonable cap space, but who wouldn't move mountains to sign a Dman like Q Hughes.

Thought better of the earlier post. Not worth the exchange.

As to the game:

1. There was an icing in the middle of the game where the Blueger line got the Ozone start... Yeah.

2. The top6 has no showed for the last 4 games. If it was just Pettersson, I would understand the focus on just him.

3. PDG played ok. They need a RW to replace Karlsson.

4. They started well. It was encouraging. They just are not dynamic enough to sustain offensively.

5. I wonder how long Tocchet will further kill his own PP by splitting up Pettersson and Miller?

6. We all know the D is the bigger problem, but Tocchet is hamstringing the top6 to bolster the bottom6 too. Kalrsson and PDG instead of Garland and Joshua.
Or Sherwood or Heinen or Hoglander. I just don't understand it, Karlsson in particular.
