We can absolutely dominate an offensive shift and then give up a full 2 minutes in our own end because Juulsen/Desharnais can’t get it out

I still hate how opposition teams get to waltz into our zone and we have to dump and chase

This is on purpose. Teams with slow defensman use this and allow zone entries from “Rushers” (this is the actual term for them) and then use controlled plays to defend. LA does it and Buffalo doesn’t. This metrics are actually tracked. If Hughes / Desharnais are on the same pairing and team dumps it in soft dump left wing (Desharnais side) he will stand up (interfere) with forchecker and QH will retrieve. Even tho it wasn’t his side. This is on purpose. First defender in usually “eats” the puck by taking the forcheker and doesn’t worry about the puck and 2nd defender in retrieves.

96% of people here don’t actually know hockey coaching …there’s always a reason for everything. (Right or wrong).
