I feel a part of this game was kismet. The universe's way of tying loose ends. 11 years ago IIRC there was a certain je-ne-sais-quoi in the air. I shit you not, I'm going here. But Rask got a knuckler in that game from Hansen I believe, to this day I believe the air pressure in the building was funky because of the storm outside but I may be wrong. I wasn't exactly with the living and breathing at this time.

Anyways, funny enough, I felt the same driving into work today. Just something weird about this weather system. Sure enough, Marchand gets a moment in the game to address the fans just like that game. I can't even be mad at this point. It's like a cockroach that you've tried to stamp out so many times, you're just kind of impressed he's still around. 5-1 loss in our worst game of the season, last time was 6-2 our best of the season (well, really mostly just Santorelli).

What this means for this season I haven't the slightest.

One of two marquee players will be done in Vancouver after this season is my unfortunate prediction. And I hope they make the correct but difficult decision.
petterson might be a casualty. demko the other.

There's some weird stuff happening behind the scenes with this team

Mopey Petey's disappearing act
Miller's mysterious absence with Elliott saying "his teammates need to bend and he needs to bend"
Tocchet appearing to get more and more frustrated every game and now saying some guys aren't emotionally invested
So many games the team just gives absolutely no effort, doesn't follow instructions, and just free skates however the F they please. That NEVER happened last year - it was balls out and adhering to the system almost every game

Other teams have crap D too and they still win (see: Oilers)
Wonder if it's less of a hockey issue and more an indication of some major off-ice issues

Mmmm. But is that the correct call?

Then you ask for what reason are you trading Demko. If it's for the "correct" reason, yeah, go ahead.

@Scumbag Frank I'm trying to be as implicit as possible, but the tea leaves are all out there, the puzzle pieces are all out there, if you're clever enough, you've gotten to where I think they are trying to steer you. Is it ethical? Ehhhhh. I'm still on the fence, because are we a hockey team or an entertainment product? I started doing this because I loved the sport, not the drama.

But, like, c'mon. If anyone has even half a brain, they've figured out more or less, not what's *going* to happen next, but a vague idea of what *has* to happen next.

yes. demko cuz of his "injury issues" can the team count on him when hes needed to most, i cringe everytime he makes a split save and that he might re aggravate it again. peterson quiet demeonor might not work in the hockey crazed market like vancouver, everything is being scrutinzed under a microscope day in and day out. maybe its best if he goes to a different team with no pressure.

So, anyone have a speculative list on who the guys are that Tocchet said were not emotionally invested? =P
lets guess shall we... petterson, myers, joshua top of my head.

Not hard to guess from the forwards. Pettersson at the forefront (who he’ll never single out), Hoglander/Heinen/Boeser incredibly inconsistent efforts. One good game and two bad games fits this group. Less on Boeser but still not fully there.

D is just a total loss outside of Hughes. Not even worth speculating there because they just suck lol

Well then, perhaps you guessed correctly since you didn't mention Lankinen once. And dead right on the splits. God bless him, he's such a competitor he can't help himself but there are some saves you just can't afford to make...the way he makes them. And part of that, all of it, really, is the lack of game management and defensive support he's had. He's had neither. I feel bad for him, I think he's a winner.

Looks like this was a good one to miss. My son crushed it at his high school play, although the highlight was one of the singing Santa’s pants falling down during a big musical number. That was probably still more entertaining than this game would have been.

Nice to see Sasson score his first. Pity it came in a stinker, but awesome to see an undrafted kid score his first NHL goal on home ice.

Full disclosure i turned it off after the 4th or 5th goal and watched old Simpsons Christmas episodes and violent night. But besides going at Marchand, Miller seemed like he was sad dogging it pretty hard all game as well.

Sounds like it was a good game for me to miss.

There is something off with this team - not sure what it is but they haven’t looked right since Game 1. That collapse has kind of foreshadowed what to expect so far.

Really feeling like last year was an outlier and this team is just not very good

I don't believe this. But if that's the case then give Tocchet a fat extension and start shopping the core. These guys have gone through enough coaches, they don't get the luxury of being able to quit on Tocchet this quickly and getting him fired.

In the hypothetical world that he has (which I don’t think is true), then you blow up the team. It would be three straight coaches it happened to in 4 years, which means you’re screwed no matter what.

It does seem like something is going on in the leadership group, as the business like attitude to every game isn’t the same as last year. Either Tocchet or the players will need to figure it out, otherwise someone needs to go.

Coach was also clearly screaming for help with puck moving when mentioning the icings and dump ins instead of making a play. He doesn’t want them playing rope a dope all the time, but guys are getting jittery out there at the slightest hint of pressure.

Got home late and sat down to watch the replay. After the 2-0 goal I skipped ahead to the start of the 2nd. Turned it off after the 3-0 goal. Unfortunately it's becoming a common theme this year. This team just isn't worth watching on a lot of nights.

Tocchet needs to start healthy scratching guys after an effort like this. Miller, Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser, it doesn't matter. Just something to wake the team up. If that doesn't work then Allvin needs to start making changes just for the sake of change. Something ain't right with this group.
